A small delivery robot stops in front of Imani's house. It beeps twice and waits. Imani opens the door, but there is no package for her.
Um pequeno robô de entrega para na frente da casa de Imani. Ele apita duas vezes e espera. Imani abre a porta, mas não há nenhum pacote para ela.
"That's not our robot," says Fenn, her brother. "We didn't order anything."
"Esse não é o nosso robô", diz Fenn, seu irmão. "A gente não pediu nada."
The robot has a screen on its front. It shows an order number and a photo of a box. Imani looks again and reads the address.
O robô tem uma tela na frente. Ela mostra um número de pedido e a foto de uma caixa. Imani olha de novo e lê o endereço.
"This package is for the house on Maple Street," she says. "That's three streets away."
"Esse pacote é para a casa na Rua Maple", ela diz. "Isso fica a três ruas daqui."
Fenn laughs. "The robot is lost."
Fenn ri. "O robô está perdido."
Imani finds a small phone number under the screen. She calls it, and a calm voice from the delivery company answers.
Imani encontra um pequeno número de telefone embaixo da tela. Ela liga, e uma voz calma da empresa de entregas atende.
"Our robot stopped at the wrong address," Imani says. "The screen shows Maple Street, but we live on Birch Street."
"Nosso robô parou no endereço errado", diz Imani. "A tela mostra a Rua Maple, mas a gente mora na Rua Birch."
"Thank you for calling," the voice says. "We will send new directions to the robot now."
"Obrigado por ligar", diz a voz. "Vamos enviar novas instruções para o robô agora mesmo."
The robot's wheels turn, and it beeps again. Then it rolls back down the path. It turns toward the street.
As rodas do robô giram, e ele apita de novo. Depois ele rola de volta pelo caminho. Ele vira em direção à rua.
"It's going to try again," Fenn says.
"Ele vai tentar de novo", diz Fenn.
They watch it move down the sidewalk and turn the corner. A few minutes later, Imani's phone buzzes with a message. The package reaches the right house on Maple Street.
Eles observam o robô descer a calçada e virar a esquina. Alguns minutos depois, o celular de Imani vibra com uma mensagem. O pacote chega à casa certa na Rua Maple.
"Maybe we need a robot too," Fenn says with a grin.
"Talvez a gente precise de um robô também", diz Fenn com um sorriso largo.
Imani shakes her head and closes the door.
Imani balança a cabeça e fecha a porta.
