The Delivery Robot on the Wrong Porch

A small delivery robot stops in front of Imani's house. It beeps twice and waits. Imani opens the door, but there is no package for her.

Sebuah robot pengantar kecil berhenti di depan rumah Imani. Robot itu berbunyi bip dua kali lalu menunggu. Imani membuka pintu, tetapi tidak ada paket untuknya.

"That's not our robot," says Fenn, her brother. "We didn't order anything."

"Itu bukan robot kita," kata Fenn, kakaknya. "Kita tidak memesan apa-apa."

The robot has a screen on its front. It shows an order number and a photo of a box. Imani looks again and reads the address.

Robot itu punya layar di bagian depannya. Layarnya menampilkan nomor pesanan dan foto sebuah kotak. Imani melihat lagi dan membaca alamatnya.

"This package is for the house on Maple Street," she says. "That's three streets away."

"Paket ini untuk rumah di Maple Street," katanya. "Jaraknya tiga jalan dari sini."

Fenn laughs. "The robot is lost."

Fenn tertawa. "Robotnya tersesat."

Imani finds a small phone number under the screen. She calls it, and a calm voice from the delivery company answers.

Imani menemukan sebuah nomor telepon kecil di bawah layar. Ia menghubunginya, dan suara tenang dari perusahaan pengiriman menjawab.

"Our robot stopped at the wrong address," Imani says. "The screen shows Maple Street, but we live on Birch Street."

"Robot Anda berhenti di alamat yang salah," kata Imani. "Layarnya menunjukkan Maple Street, tetapi kami tinggal di Birch Street."

"Thank you for calling," the voice says. "We will send new directions to the robot now."

"Terima kasih sudah menelepon," kata suara itu. "Kami akan mengirimkan petunjuk arah baru ke robot sekarang."

The robot's wheels turn, and it beeps again. Then it rolls back down the path. It turns toward the street.

Roda robot itu berputar, dan ia berbunyi bip lagi. Lalu ia menggelinding menyusuri jalan setapak. Ia berbelok ke arah jalan raya.

"It's going to try again," Fenn says.

"Ia akan mencoba lagi," kata Fenn.

They watch it move down the sidewalk and turn the corner. A few minutes later, Imani's phone buzzes with a message. The package reaches the right house on Maple Street.

Mereka melihatnya bergerak menyusuri trotoar dan berbelok di tikungan. Beberapa menit kemudian, ponsel Imani bergetar karena sebuah pesan. Paket itu sampai di rumah yang benar di Maple Street.

"Maybe we need a robot too," Fenn says with a grin.

"Mungkin kita juga perlu robot," kata Fenn sambil nyengir.

Imani shakes her head and closes the door.

Imani menggelengkan kepala dan menutup pintu.
