The Delivery Robot on the Wrong Porch

A small delivery robot stops in front of Imani's house. It beeps twice and waits. Imani opens the door, but there is no package for her.

Un pequeño robot de entrega se detiene frente a la casa de Imani. Suena dos veces y espera. Imani abre la puerta, pero no hay ningún paquete para ella.

"That's not our robot," says Fenn, her brother. "We didn't order anything."

«Ese no es nuestro robot», dice Fenn, su hermano. «No pedimos nada».

The robot has a screen on its front. It shows an order number and a photo of a box. Imani looks again and reads the address.

El robot tiene una pantalla en la parte de enfrente. Muestra un número de pedido y una foto de una caja. Imani mira otra vez y lee la dirección.

"This package is for the house on Maple Street," she says. "That's three streets away."

«Este paquete es para la casa en la calle Maple», dice ella. «Eso está a tres calles de aquí».

Fenn laughs. "The robot is lost."

Fenn se ríe. «El robot está perdido».

Imani finds a small phone number under the screen. She calls it, and a calm voice from the delivery company answers.

Imani encuentra un pequeño número de teléfono debajo de la pantalla. Lo llama, y una voz tranquila de la empresa de entregas responde.

"Our robot stopped at the wrong address," Imani says. "The screen shows Maple Street, but we live on Birch Street."

"Thank you for calling," the voice says. "We will send new directions to the robot now."

The robot's wheels turn, and it beeps again. Then it rolls back down the path. It turns toward the street.

"It's going to try again," Fenn says.

«Va a intentarlo otra vez», dice Fenn.

They watch it move down the sidewalk and turn the corner. A few minutes later, Imani's phone buzzes with a message. The package reaches the right house on Maple Street.

Lo ven avanzar por la acera y dar la vuelta en la esquina. Unos minutos después, el teléfono de Imani suena con un mensaje. El paquete llega a la casa correcta en la calle Maple.

"Maybe we need a robot too," Fenn says with a grin.

Imani shakes her head and closes the door.
