The Paper Map of the Old Town

Franco walked into the old town to see the sights. He followed a map on his phone at first.

फ्रांको पुराने शहर की जगहें देखने गया। शुरू में वह अपने फ़ोन के नक़्शे के सहारे चला।

Halfway through the old streets, his phone died. The screen went black in his hand.

पुरानी गलियों के बीच में उसका फ़ोन बंद हो गया। उसके हाथ में स्क्रीन काली पड़ गई।

Franco looked around at the narrow, winding streets. Every street looked the same to him. He did not know the way back to his hotel.

फ्रांको ने तंग, घुमावदार गलियों में चारों ओर देखा। उसे हर गली एक जैसी लगी। उसे अपने होटल का रास्ता नहीं पता था।

Franco remembered the paper map from his hotel desk. He pulled it out of his jacket pocket.

फ्रांको को अपने होटल की डेस्क से लिया हुआ काग़ज़ का नक़्शा याद आया। उसने उसे अपनी जैकेट की जेब से निकाला।

The little map showed every street by name. He found the town square on the paper map. His hotel sat two streets past the square.

उस छोटे नक़्शे में हर गली का नाम लिखा था। उसे काग़ज़ के नक़्शे पर शहर का चौक मिल गया। उसका होटल चौक से दो गलियाँ आगे था।

Franco folded the map and started walking again. He passed a bakery with bread in the window. He passed a fountain with three stone birds.

फ्रांको ने नक़्शा तह किया और फिर चलने लगा। वह एक बेकरी के पास से गुज़रा जिसकी खिड़की में ब्रेड रखी थी। वह तीन पत्थर की चिड़ियों वाले एक फ़व्वारे के पास से गुज़रा।

Soon the hotel sign appeared just ahead. Franco walked inside and asked for his phone charger.

जल्दी ही उसके ठीक आगे होटल का साइनबोर्ड दिखाई दिया। फ्रांको अंदर गया और अपना फ़ोन चार्जर माँगा।

The clerk lent him one from behind the desk. Franco sat in the lobby and let his phone charge. He kept the paper map folded in his pocket.

क्लर्क ने डेस्क के पीछे से उसे एक चार्जर उधार दे दिया। फ्रांको लॉबी में बैठ गया और अपना फ़ोन चार्ज होने दिया। उसने काग़ज़ का नक़्शा तह करके अपनी जेब में ही रखा।
