The Early Bus

Katrin runs to the bus stop every morning at 7:40. Today she leaves home two minutes late.

काट्रिन हर सुबह 7:40 पर भागकर बस स्टॉप पहुँचती है। आज वह घर से दो मिनट देर से निकलती है।

She turns the corner and sees the bus pull away. Katrin stops and watches it disappear down the street.

वह मोड़ मुड़ती है और देखती है कि बस जा रही है। काट्रिन रुक जाती है और बस को सड़क पर आँखों से ओझल होते देखती है।

"Not again," she says, out of breath. She checks her phone for the next bus time.

"फिर से नहीं," वह हाँफते हुए कहती है। वह अपने फ़ोन में अगली बस का समय देखती है।

The next bus comes in twenty-five minutes. That is too late for her first class. She has an important test today.

अगली बस पच्चीस मिनट बाद आएगी। यह उसकी पहली कक्षा के लिए बहुत देर है। आज उसका एक ज़रूरी टेस्ट है।

Katrin thinks for a moment and looks around. The train station is only a few blocks away.

काट्रिन एक पल सोचती है और इधर-उधर देखती है। रेलवे स्टेशन यहाँ से बस कुछ ब्लॉक दूर है।

She starts walking fast toward the station. She checks the schedule board at the station door.

वह तेज़ क़दमों से स्टेशन की ओर चल पड़ती है। स्टेशन के दरवाज़े पर लगे समय-सारणी बोर्ड को देखती है।

A train leaves for downtown in six minutes. Katrin buys a ticket and hurries to the platform.

छह मिनट में शहर के बीच की ओर एक ट्रेन जाने वाली है। काट्रिन टिकट ख़रीदती है और जल्दी से प्लेटफ़ॉर्म पर पहुँचती है।

The train doors open, and she steps inside. She finds a seat and catches her breath.

ट्रेन के दरवाज़े खुलते हैं और वह अंदर चढ़ जाती है। उसे एक सीट मिल जाती है और वह साँस सँभालती है।

The train moves quickly through the city. Katrin reaches her stop close to school.

ट्रेन शहर के बीच से तेज़ी से गुज़रती है। काट्रिन स्कूल के पास वाले अपने स्टॉप पर पहुँच जाती है।

She walks the last block and reaches the school gate. The bell rings. She reaches the door at the same moment.

वह आख़िरी ब्लॉक पैदल चलती है और स्कूल के गेट तक पहुँचती है। घंटी बजती है। वह उसी पल दरवाज़े पर पहुँच जाती है।
