Ondine drops off the same red coat every month. The dry cleaner sits two blocks from her office. She picks it up every Friday.
ओंडीन हर महीने वही लाल कोट ड्राई क्लीनर के पास छोड़ती है। ड्राई क्लीनर उसके दफ़्तर से दो सड़क दूर है। वह उसे हर शुक्रवार को ले आती है।
This Friday, Ondine walks in and gives her ticket. A worker named Behnaz finds the coat on the rack. She gives it to Ondine with a smile.
इस शुक्रवार ओंडीन अंदर जाकर अपनी पर्ची देती है। बेहनाज़ नाम की एक कर्मचारी रैक से कोट ढूँढ लाती है। वह मुस्कुराकर उसे ओंडीन को दे देती है।
Ondine checks the coat carefully. She looks at the front and the sleeves. Something looks different this time.
ओंडीन कोट को ध्यान से जाँचती है। वह उसके आगे के हिस्से और आस्तीनों को देखती है। इस बार कुछ अलग लग रहा है।
A button near the top looks new. Ondine points at the button. "Is this new?" she asks.
ऊपर के पास का एक बटन नया लग रहा है। ओंडीन बटन की ओर इशारा करती है। "क्या यह नया है?" वह पूछती है।
"Yes," Behnaz says. "That button was loose. We fixed it for free."
"जी हाँ," बेहनाज़ कहती है। "वह बटन ढीला था। हमने उसे मुफ़्त में ठीक कर दिया।"
"I did not see that before," Ondine says. She looks at the other buttons too. They all match perfectly now.
"मैंने इसे पहले नहीं देखा था," ओंडीन कहती है। वह बाक़ी बटन भी देखती है। अब वे सब एकदम मेल खाते हैं।
"We check every coat closely," Behnaz says. "Small problems are easy to fix." Ondine nods and touches the new button gently.
"हम हर कोट को बारीकी से जाँचते हैं," बेहनाज़ कहती है। "छोटी दिक़्क़तें आसानी से ठीक हो जाती हैं।" ओंडीन सिर हिलाती है और नए बटन को हल्के से छूती है।
"Thank you very much," Ondine says. "This is a nice surprise." Behnaz smiles and folds the coat neatly.
"बहुत-बहुत शुक्रिया," ओंडीन कहती है। "यह एक अच्छा सरप्राइज़ है।" बेहनाज़ मुस्कुराती है और कोट को सलीक़े से तह कर देती है।
Behnaz hands her a bag for the coat. Ondine pays for the cleaning only. She walks out and carries her coat home.
बेहनाज़ कोट के लिए उसे एक थैला थमाती है। ओंडीन सिर्फ़ सफ़ाई के पैसे देती है। वह बाहर निकलती है और कोट लेकर घर चल देती है।
