The Fishing Spot That Was Taken

Trevor and Colton fish at the same spot every Saturday. It sits under an old oak tree, past the second bend.

Trevor e Colton pescam no mesmo lugar todo sábado. Fica debaixo de um carvalho antigo, depois da segunda curva.

This Saturday, they walk down the path with their gear. When they reach the spot, someone else is already there.

Neste sábado, eles descem a trilha com os equipamentos. Quando chegam ao lugar, já tem outra pessoa lá.

A man sits in a folding chair. Two fishing rods stand next to him. He waves at them in a friendly way.

Um homem está sentado numa cadeira dobrável. Duas varas de pescar estão ao lado dele. Ele acena para os dois de um jeito simpático.

"Morning," Colton says, trying not to sound annoyed. "This is usually our spot."

"Bom dia", diz Colton, tentando não parecer irritado. "Esse aqui costuma ser o nosso lugar."

"Oh, sorry about that," the man says. "I didn't know. I can move if you want."

"Ah, desculpa por isso", diz o homem. "Eu não sabia. Posso sair, se vocês quiserem."

Trevor shakes his head. "No, it's fine. We'll just find another spot today."

Trevor balança a cabeça. "Não, tudo bem. A gente procura outro lugar hoje."

They walk on, down the river. They pass a small patch of tall grass. The bank there is narrow and a little muddy.

Eles seguem andando, rio abaixo. Passam por um pequeno trecho de grama alta. A margem ali é estreita e um pouco enlameada.

"This doesn't look great," Colton says, frowning at the mud.

"Esse aqui não parece muito bom", diz Colton, fazendo cara feia para a lama.

They keep walking. They find a flat rock that sticks out over the water. From there, they can see a deep, calm pool below.

Eles continuam andando. Encontram uma pedra plana que se projeta sobre a água. Dali, dá para ver uma poça funda e calma logo abaixo.

"Look at that," Trevor says, pointing at the pool. "Fish probably rest there, away from the current."

"Olha só isso", diz Trevor, apontando para a poça. "Os peixes provavelmente descansam ali, longe da correnteza."

They set up their chairs on the flat rock. They cast their lines into the pool. Within ten minutes, Colton's rod bends sharply.

Eles montam as cadeiras na pedra plana. Lançam as linhas na poça. Em dez minutos, a vara de Colton se dobra com força.

"I've got one!" he shouts, reeling it in carefully.

"Fisguei um!", ele grita, recolhendo a linha com cuidado.

It is a very big fish. Colton is very happy about it.

É um peixe bem grande. Colton fica muito feliz com isso.

"Maybe we need to thank that guy," Trevor says, laughing. They both look back toward their old spot.

"Talvez a gente devesse agradecer àquele cara", diz Trevor, rindo. Os dois olham para trás, na direção do antigo lugar deles.
