Two Classrooms

It is Maya's first day at a new school. She has a map and a class schedule. Her friend Theo goes to the same school.

आज माया का नए स्कूल में पहला दिन है। उसके पास एक नक़्शा और कक्षाओं की समय-सारणी है। उसका दोस्त थियो भी उसी स्कूल में पढ़ता है।

Before class, Maya sends Theo a text. "Let's meet at the science room," she writes. Theo replies, "Okay, see you there!"

कक्षा से पहले माया थियो को एक संदेश भेजती है। "विज्ञान वाले कमरे में मिलते हैं," वह लिखती है। थियो जवाब देता है, "ठीक है, वहीं मिलते हैं!"

Maya walks to the science room in the old building. She waits by the door, but Theo does not come. She checks her phone. No new messages.

माया पुरानी इमारत में विज्ञान वाले कमरे तक जाती है। वह दरवाज़े के पास इंतज़ार करती है, पर थियो नहीं आता। वह अपना फ़ोन देखती है। कोई नया संदेश नहीं है।

Theo is waiting too, but in a different room. The school has two science rooms. One room is old, and one is new. Theo is standing outside the new room.

थियो भी इंतज़ार कर रहा है, मगर किसी दूसरे कमरे में। स्कूल में विज्ञान के दो कमरे हैं। एक कमरा पुराना है और एक नया। थियो नए कमरे के बाहर खड़ा है।

After ten minutes, Maya starts to worry. She walks around the school to look for Theo. She checks the library, the gym, and the hallway near the office.

दस मिनट बाद माया को चिंता होने लगती है। वह थियो को ढूँढने के लिए स्कूल में घूमती है। वह पुस्तकालय, जिम और दफ़्तर के पास वाले गलियारे में देखती है।

Finally, she sees a boy near the new building. It is Theo! He waves and runs toward her.

आख़िर में उसे नई इमारत के पास एक लड़का दिखता है। वह थियो है! वह हाथ हिलाता है और उसकी ओर दौड़ता है।

"I was waiting in the wrong room," Theo says. "There are two science rooms here."

"मैं ग़लत कमरे में इंतज़ार कर रहा था," थियो कहता है। "यहाँ विज्ञान के दो कमरे हैं।"

"Me too!" Maya says, and they both laugh. "Next time, let's use room numbers instead."

"मैं भी!" माया कहती है, और वे दोनों हँस पड़ते हैं। "अगली बार हम कमरे के नंबर इस्तेमाल करेंगे।"

They walk into their first class together, just in time. The teacher smiles and points to two empty seats near the window.

वे ठीक समय पर साथ-साथ अपनी पहली कक्षा में जाते हैं। टीचर मुस्कुराती हैं और खिड़की के पास दो ख़ाली सीटों की ओर इशारा करती हैं।

"Welcome," the teacher says. "Please sit down and open your books."

"स्वागत है," टीचर कहती हैं। "कृपया बैठ जाओ और अपनी किताबें खोलो।"

Maya and Theo sit down together and open their new books.

माया और थियो साथ बैठते हैं और अपनी नई किताबें खोलते हैं।
