Two Classrooms

It is Maya's first day at a new school. She has a map and a class schedule. Her friend Theo goes to the same school.

Es el primer día de Maya en una escuela nueva. Tiene un mapa y un horario de clases. Su amigo Theo va a la misma escuela.

Before class, Maya sends Theo a text. "Let's meet at the science room," she writes. Theo replies, "Okay, see you there!"

Antes de clase, Maya le manda un mensaje a Theo. «Nos vemos en el salón de ciencias», escribe. Theo responde: «¡Listo, nos vemos ahí!»

Maya walks to the science room in the old building. She waits by the door, but Theo does not come. She checks her phone. No new messages.

Maya camina hasta el salón de ciencias en el edificio viejo. Espera junto a la puerta, pero Theo no llega. Revisa su teléfono. No hay mensajes nuevos.

Theo is waiting too, but in a different room. The school has two science rooms. One room is old, and one is new. Theo is standing outside the new room.

Theo también está esperando, pero en otro salón. La escuela tiene dos salones de ciencias. Uno es viejo y el otro es nuevo. Theo está parado afuera del salón nuevo.

After ten minutes, Maya starts to worry. She walks around the school to look for Theo. She checks the library, the gym, and the hallway near the office.

Después de diez minutos, Maya empieza a preocuparse. Camina por toda la escuela buscando a Theo. Revisa la biblioteca, el gimnasio y el pasillo cerca de la oficina.

Finally, she sees a boy near the new building. It is Theo! He waves and runs toward her.

Por fin, ve a un chico cerca del edificio nuevo. ¡Es Theo! Él la saluda con la mano y corre hacia ella.

"I was waiting in the wrong room," Theo says. "There are two science rooms here."

«Estaba esperando en el salón equivocado», dice Theo. «Aquí hay dos salones de ciencias».

"Me too!" Maya says, and they both laugh. "Next time, let's use room numbers instead."

«¡A mí también!», dice Maya, y los dos se ríen. «La próxima vez, usemos mejor los números de salón».

They walk into their first class together, just in time. The teacher smiles and points to two empty seats near the window.

Entran juntos a su primera clase, justo a tiempo. La maestra sonríe y señala dos asientos vacíos cerca de la ventana.

"Welcome," the teacher says. "Please sit down and open your books."

«Bienvenidos», dice la maestra. «Por favor, siéntense y abran sus libros».

Maya and Theo sit down together and open their new books.

Maya y Theo se sientan juntos y abren sus libros nuevos.
