The Bike Path That Splits

Deniz and Hana ride their bikes along the river on Saturday morning. The sun is warm and the air feels fresh.

Deniz y Hana andan en bicicleta por el río el sábado por la mañana. El sol está cálido y el aire se siente fresco.

After twenty minutes, the path splits into two directions. A sign shows two arrows.

Después de veinte minutos, el camino se divide en dos direcciones. Un letrero muestra dos flechas.

One arrow points along the flat river path. The other points up into the hills.

Una flecha señala el camino plano junto al río. La otra señala hacia las colinas.

"The river path is long, but it's flat and easy," Hana says.

«El camino del río es largo, pero es plano y fácil», dice Hana.

"The hill path is short," Deniz says, "but it looks steep."

«El camino de la colina es corto», dice Deniz, «pero se ve empinado».

They stop and look at both paths for a minute. Hana checks the time on her phone.

Se detienen y miran ambos caminos por un minuto. Hana revisa la hora en su celular.

"Let's try the hills," Hana says. "We have time, and I want to see the view."

«Intentemos las colinas», dice Hana. «Tenemos tiempo, y quiero ver la vista».

Deniz agrees, and they turn onto the hill path together. The road climbs quickly between the trees.

Their legs get tired, but they keep going. After ten minutes, they reach the top of the hill.

Below them, the whole valley spreads out. The river looks like a thin blue line.

"This is worth it," Deniz says.

Hana takes a photo of the view. They sit on a rock and share their water bottle.
