The Bike Path That Splits

Deniz and Hana reach a fork on their bike ride and choose the steeper hill path over the flat river route.
Deniz and Hana ride their bikes along the river on Saturday morning. The sun is warm and the air feels fresh.
After twenty minutes, the path splits into two directions. A sign shows two arrows.
One arrow points along the flat river path. The other points up into the hills.
"The river path is long, but it's flat and easy," Hana says.
"The hill path is short," Deniz says, "but it looks steep."
They stop and look at both paths for a minute. Hana checks the time on her phone.
"Let's try the hills," Hana says. "We have time, and I want to see the view."
Deniz agrees, and they turn onto the hill path together. The road climbs quickly between the trees.
Their legs get tired, but they keep going. After ten minutes, they reach the top of the hill.
Below them, the whole valley spreads out. The river looks like a thin blue line.
"This is worth it," Deniz says.
Hana takes a photo of the view. They sit on a rock and share their water bottle.
