Sena, Idris, and two friends hike along a forest trail on Sunday. The trail leads to an old wooden footbridge over a stream.
Sena, Idris y dos amigos caminan por un sendero del bosque el domingo. El sendero lleva a un viejo puente de madera sobre un arroyo.
The bridge is narrow and a little old. Some of the wood boards look weak.
El puente es angosto y un poco viejo. Algunas de las tablas de madera se ven débiles.
Idris stops at the edge of the bridge. He doesn't move.
Idris se detiene en el borde del puente. No se mueve.
"I don't like this," Idris says quietly. "The boards look weak."
«No me gusta esto», dice Idris en voz baja. «Las tablas se ven débiles».
The other two friends cross first and wait on the other side. Sena stays back with Idris.
Los otros dos amigos cruzan primero y esperan del otro lado. Sena se queda con Idris.
"Look at me," Sena says. "I'll go first, slowly. You watch my feet."
«Mírame», dice Sena. «Yo iré primero, despacio. Tú observa mis pies».
Sena steps onto the bridge carefully. The wood creaks but holds. She stops in the middle and turns around.
Sena pisa el puente con cuidado. La madera cruje, pero resiste. Se detiene en la mitad y se da vuelta.
"See? It's fine," she says. "Just step where I stepped."
«¿Ves? Está bien», dice ella. «Solo pisa donde yo pisé».
Idris takes a deep breath and puts one foot on the bridge. He follows Sena's path, step by step.
Idris respira hondo y pone un pie en el puente. Sigue el camino de Sena, paso a paso.
Halfway across, he stops and looks down at the water. "Don't look down," Sena says. "Look at me."
A la mitad del camino, se detiene y mira hacia el agua. «No mires hacia abajo», dice Sena. «Mírame a mí».
Idris looks up and keeps walking. A minute later, he reaches the other side.
Idris levanta la vista y sigue caminando. Un minuto después, llega al otro lado.
"You did it," Sena says. She smiles. "That wasn't so hard."
«Lo lograste», dice Sena. Sonríe. «No fue tan difícil».
"It was a little hard," Idris says. "But thank you for staying with me."
«Fue un poco difícil», dice Idris. «Pero gracias por quedarte conmigo».
