The Rainy Picnic

Ruby and Milo plan a picnic in the park on Saturday. They pack sandwiches, fruit, and cold drinks in a basket. The sky is blue when they leave home.

Ruby dan Milo merencanakan piknik di taman pada hari Sabtu. Mereka mengemas sandwich, buah, dan minuman dingin ke dalam keranjang. Langit biru saat mereka berangkat dari rumah.

They spread a blanket under a big tree. They set out the food and sit down to eat. After a few minutes, the sky turns gray.

Mereka membentangkan selimut di bawah pohon besar. Mereka menata makanan dan duduk untuk makan. Beberapa menit kemudian, langit berubah kelabu.

"I think it's going to rain," Milo says. He looks up at the dark clouds.

"Kurasa sebentar lagi hujan," kata Milo. Ia menengadah melihat awan gelap.

"Let's wait a little," Ruby says. "Maybe it will pass."

"Kita tunggu sebentar," kata Ruby. "Mungkin hujannya lewat."

But the rain starts fast. Big drops fall on their sandwiches. The wind pushes their napkins across the grass.

Tetapi hujan turun dengan cepat. Tetesan-tetesan besar jatuh di atas sandwich mereka. Angin mendorong serbet mereka melintasi rumput.

"We need a new plan," Ruby says. She grabs the basket and the blanket. "Let's go to my house. It's close by."

"Kita butuh rencana baru," kata Ruby. Ia menyambar keranjang dan selimut. "Ayo ke rumahku. Dekat dari sini."

They run through the rain and laugh at the puddles. By the time they reach the house, they are both very wet.

Mereka berlari menembus hujan dan menertawakan genangan air. Saat tiba di rumah, keduanya basah kuyup.

Ruby's mother opens the door. "Come in, come in!" she says. "Look at you two!"

Ibu Ruby membuka pintu. "Masuk, masuk!" katanya. "Lihat kalian berdua!"

They dry off with towels. Then they spread the blanket on the living room floor. Ruby turns on some music, and Milo opens the basket again.

Mereka mengeringkan badan dengan handuk. Lalu mereka membentangkan selimut di lantai ruang tamu. Ruby menyalakan musik, dan Milo membuka keranjang lagi.

"This isn't so bad," Milo says, biting into a sandwich.

"Ternyata tidak buruk juga," kata Milo sambil menggigit sandwich.

Ruby laughs and looks out the window at the rain. "We still have a picnic," she says. "Just an indoor one now."

Ruby tertawa dan memandang hujan di luar jendela. "Kita tetap piknik," katanya. "Hanya saja sekarang di dalam rumah."

They eat, talk, and watch the rain fall against the glass. Outside, the storm continues, but inside, they finish their picnic together.

Mereka makan, mengobrol, dan menonton hujan menerpa kaca. Di luar, badai terus berlanjut, tetapi di dalam, mereka menyelesaikan piknik mereka bersama-sama.
