The Flat Bike Tire

Oscar rides his bike to the park. The park is far from his house. Suddenly, the back wheel feels soft. He stops and looks at the tire.

Oscar mengendarai sepedanya ke taman. Taman itu jauh dari rumahnya. Tiba-tiba, roda belakangnya terasa lembek. Ia berhenti dan memeriksa bannya.

The tire is flat. Oscar checks his small bag. He has a pump but no patch.

Bannya kempis. Oscar memeriksa tas kecilnya. Ia punya pompa, tetapi tidak punya tambalan.

He looks up and down the street. He sees a bike shop on the corner. He pushes his bike to the shop.

Ia menengok ke sepanjang jalan. Ia melihat sebuah bengkel sepeda di pojok jalan. Ia mendorong sepedanya ke bengkel itu.

"Hi, my tire is flat," Oscar says.

"Halo, ban saya kempis," kata Oscar.

"No problem," the man in the shop says. "Let me check it."

"Tidak masalah," kata pria di bengkel itu. "Coba saya periksa."

The man looks at the tire. He finds a small piece of glass. "Here is the problem," he says.

Pria itu memeriksa ban tersebut. Ia menemukan serpihan kaca kecil. "Ini masalahnya," katanya.

He pulls out the glass. He puts a patch on the tire. He fills the tire with air.

Ia mencabut kaca itu. Ia menempelkan tambalan pada ban. Ia memompa ban itu dengan angin.

"That should work now," he says.

"Sekarang seharusnya sudah bisa," katanya.

"Thank you so much," Oscar says. "How much do I pay?"

"Terima kasih banyak," kata Oscar. "Berapa yang harus saya bayar?"

"Just five dollars," the man says.

"Lima dolar saja," kata pria itu.

Oscar pays the man and says thanks again. He checks the tire one more time. It feels hard and strong.

Oscar membayar pria itu dan berterima kasih lagi. Ia memeriksa ban itu sekali lagi. Rasanya keras dan kuat.

Oscar gets on his bike. He rides home under the evening sky.

Oscar naik ke sepedanya. Ia mengayuh pulang di bawah langit senja.
