Rosa works at a small shop, but she wants a new job. This week, she gets two job offers. Now she must choose between them.
रोज़ा एक छोटी दुकान में काम करती है, पर वह नई नौकरी चाहती है। इस हफ़्ते उसे दो नौकरियों के प्रस्ताव मिलते हैं। अब उसे इन दोनों में से एक चुनना है।
The first offer is from a big company downtown. The pay is high, and the office is modern. But the workday starts at seven in the morning.
पहला प्रस्ताव शहर के बीच की एक बड़ी कंपनी से है। तनख़्वाह ज़्यादा है और ऑफ़िस आधुनिक है। लेकिन काम का दिन सुबह सात बजे शुरू होता है।
The second offer is from a clinic near her street. The pay is a little lower than the company job. The clinic only needs her from nine to four.
दूसरा प्रस्ताव उसकी गली के पास के एक क्लिनिक से है। तनख़्वाह कंपनी की नौकरी से थोड़ी कम है। क्लिनिक को उसकी ज़रूरत सिर्फ़ नौ से चार बजे तक है।
Rosa writes both offers on a piece of paper. Under each one, she writes what she likes. The company job means more money and a long train ride.
रोज़ा दोनों प्रस्ताव एक काग़ज़ पर लिखती है। हर एक के नीचे वह लिखती है कि उसे उसमें क्या पसंद है। कंपनी की नौकरी का मतलब है ज़्यादा पैसे और ट्रेन का लंबा सफ़र।
The clinic job means less money but a short walk to work. She will also finish early enough to see her son after school.
क्लिनिक की नौकरी का मतलब है कम पैसे, पर काम तक थोड़ी दूर का पैदल रास्ता। वह इतनी जल्दी भी फ़ारिग़ हो जाएगी कि स्कूल के बाद अपने बेटे से मिल सके।
She calls her friend Daniel that evening for advice. "I don't know which job to pick," she tells him.
उस शाम वह सलाह के लिए अपने दोस्त डैनियल को फ़ोन करती है। "मुझे समझ नहीं आ रहा कि कौन-सी नौकरी चुनूँ," वह उससे कहती है।
"Think about your son," Daniel says. "Which job gives you more time with him?"
"अपने बेटे के बारे में सोचो," डैनियल कहता है। "कौन-सी नौकरी तुम्हें उसके साथ ज़्यादा समय देती है?"
Rosa looks at her list again. She reads the clinic's short hours one more time. She thinks about walking her son home from school.

The next morning, Rosa calls the clinic manager. "Hello, this is Rosa," she says. "I would like to accept the job."
अगली सुबह रोज़ा क्लिनिक के मैनेजर को फ़ोन करती है। "नमस्ते, मैं रोज़ा बोल रही हूँ," वह कहती है। "मैं यह नौकरी स्वीकार करना चाहती हूँ।"
