The Name She Forgot at the Party

Rina went to her friend's housewarming party on Saturday. Her friend's new boyfriend stood by the kitchen. Rina met him only once, months ago.

रीना शनिवार को अपनी दोस्त की गृह-प्रवेश पार्टी में गई। उसकी दोस्त का नया बॉयफ्रेंड रसोई के पास खड़ा था। रीना उससे सिर्फ़ एक बार मिली थी, कई महीने पहले।

She walked over with a big smile. "It's very good to see you again, Nico!" she said loudly. The man's face went blank for a second.

वह बड़ी मुस्कान के साथ उसके पास गई। "आपसे दोबारा मिलकर बहुत अच्छा लगा, निको!" उसने ज़ोर से कहा। आदमी का चेहरा एक पल के लिए सपाट हो गया।

"Actually, my name is Petros," he said gently. Rina's cheeks turned bright red at once. She covered her mouth with her hand.

"दरअसल, मेरा नाम पेट्रोस है," उसने नरमी से कहा। रीना के गाल एकदम लाल हो गए। उसने अपने हाथ से मुँह ढक लिया।

"I am very sorry," Rina said quickly. "I mixed you up with someone else." She felt terrible about her mistake.

"मुझे बहुत अफ़सोस है," रीना ने जल्दी से कहा। "मैंने आपको किसी और से मिला दिया।" उसे अपनी ग़लती पर बहुत बुरा लग रहा था।

Petros laughed and waved a hand. "It happens all the time," he said. "Nico is my brother. We look alike."

पेट्रोस हँस पड़ा और उसने हाथ हिलाया। "ऐसा तो अक्सर होता है," उसने कहा। "निको मेरा भाई है। हम दोनों एक जैसे दिखते हैं।"

Rina laughed too. The awkward moment passed quickly.

रीना भी हँस पड़ी। वह अटपटा पल जल्दी ही बीत गया।

"Well, Petros, it's nice to meet you properly," Rina said. She held out her hand for a handshake.

"तो पेट्रोस, आपसे ठीक से मिलकर अच्छा लगा," रीना ने कहा। उसने हाथ मिलाने के लिए अपना हाथ बढ़ाया।

Petros shook her hand warmly. "I remember names well," he said with a grin. "Let's start over. Hello, Rina."

पेट्रोस ने गर्मजोशी से उसका हाथ मिलाया। "मुझे नाम अच्छी तरह याद रहते हैं," उसने मुस्कुराकर कहा। "चलो, फिर से शुरू करते हैं। हेलो, रीना।"

For the rest of the party, Rina said his name. She said it often, loud and clear. She introduced him to three other guests correctly. By the end of the night, everyone knew his name.

पार्टी में बाक़ी समय रीना उसका नाम लेती रही। वह उसे बार-बार, साफ़ और ऊँची आवाज़ में बोलती थी। उसने पेट्रोस का परिचय तीन और मेहमानों से सही नाम के साथ कराया। रात ख़त्म होने तक सब उसका नाम जान गए थे।

A month later, Rina saw Petros at another party. She said his name first, loud and clear. Petros laughed and gave her a high five.

एक महीने बाद रीना को पेट्रोस एक और पार्टी में दिखा। इस बार उसने सबसे पहले उसका नाम लिया, साफ़ और ऊँची आवाज़ में। पेट्रोस हँस पड़ा और उसने उसे हाई-फ़ाइव दिया।
