Farid drove home from work. He was on a quiet road. There were no houses near this road. Suddenly, the car made a strange sound. Farid looked at the gas gauge. The tank was almost empty.
फ़रीद काम से घर की ओर गाड़ी चला रहा था। वह एक शांत सड़क पर था। इस सड़क के पास कोई घर नहीं था। अचानक गाड़ी ने अजीब-सी आवाज़ की। फ़रीद ने पेट्रोल का मीटर देखा। टंकी लगभग ख़ाली थी।
He stopped the car by the road. He looked around for help. There was no gas station in sight. Farid checked his phone. He had no signal here.
उसने गाड़ी सड़क के किनारे रोक दी। उसने मदद के लिए चारों ओर देखा। कोई पेट्रोल पंप नज़र नहीं आ रहा था। फ़रीद ने अपना फ़ोन देखा। यहाँ उसे नेटवर्क नहीं मिल रहा था।
He got out of the car. He locked the car and started to walk. The sun was hot that day. Farid walked for twenty minutes. Finally, he saw a small gas station.
वह गाड़ी से बाहर निकला। उसने गाड़ी में ताला लगाया और पैदल चल पड़ा। उस दिन धूप तेज़ थी। फ़रीद बीस मिनट तक चलता रहा। आख़िर उसे एक छोटा पेट्रोल पंप दिखा।
He walked up to the door. A man stood behind the counter. "Hello. Can I buy a gas can?" Farid asked. "Sure. Here is a red can," the man said. Farid paid for the can and the gas.
वह दरवाज़े तक गया। काउंटर के पीछे एक आदमी खड़ा था। "नमस्ते। क्या मुझे पेट्रोल का डिब्बा मिल सकता है?" फ़रीद ने पूछा। "ज़रूर। यह लाल डिब्बा लीजिए," आदमी ने कहा। फ़रीद ने डिब्बे और पेट्रोल के पैसे दिए।
He filled the can with gas. He thanked the man and left. He walked back to his car. The walk felt long. He did not stop.
उसने डिब्बे में पेट्रोल भरवाया। उसने आदमी को धन्यवाद दिया और चल पड़ा। वह पैदल अपनी गाड़ी की ओर लौटा। रास्ता लंबा लग रहा था। वह कहीं नहीं रुका।
At last, he saw his car by the road. Farid opened the tank. He poured in the gas. He got in the car and turned the key. The car started.
आख़िर उसे सड़क के किनारे अपनी गाड़ी दिख गई। फ़रीद ने टंकी खोली। उसने उसमें पेट्रोल डाला। वह गाड़ी में बैठा और चाबी घुमाई। गाड़ी स्टार्ट हो गई।
Farid smiled. He drove to the nearest gas station. He filled the tank all the way. Then he drove home.
फ़रीद मुस्कुराया। वह सबसे पास के पेट्रोल पंप तक गया। उसने टंकी पूरी भरवा ली। फिर वह घर चला गया।
