Perla landed after a short flight and grabbed her bag. She pulled a black carry-on from the overhead bin. It looked just like hers, with the same gray handle.
Perla desembarcou depois de um voo curto e pegou a bagagem. Ela tirou uma mala de mão preta do compartimento superior. Era igualzinha à dela, com a mesma alça cinza.
Perla walked off the plane and through the terminal. At the taxi line, she opened the bag. She looked for her wallet inside.
Perla saiu do avião e atravessou o terminal. Na fila de táxi, ela abriu a mala. Ela procurou a carteira lá dentro.
Inside, she found a man's shirts and a book. "This isn't my bag," Perla said out loud.
Lá dentro, ela encontrou camisas de homem e um livro. "Essa não é a minha mala", Perla disse em voz alta.
She checked the tag. The name said Joaquin. Perla looked at the gate agent nearby.
Ela checou a etiqueta. O nome dizia Joaquin. Perla olhou para o funcionário do portão que estava por perto.
"I think I took the wrong bag," she said.
"Acho que peguei a mala errada", ela disse.
The agent called the airline's lost and found desk. A man ran up to the desk minutes later. "Did anyone find a black bag?" he asked.
O funcionário ligou para o setor de achados e perdidos da companhia aérea. Minutos depois, um homem chegou correndo ao balcão. "Alguém encontrou uma mala preta?", ele perguntou.
"That's Joaquin," the agent said, and pointed at Perla.
"Esse é o Joaquin", disse o funcionário, apontando para Perla.
Perla held up the bag with a small smile. "I think this is yours," she said.
Perla ergueu a mala com um pequeno sorriso. "Acho que esta é sua", ela disse.
Joaquin checked the tag and laughed. "And this one must be yours," he said. He held up her bag.
Joaquin checou a etiqueta e riu. "E esta aqui deve ser sua", ele disse. Ele ergueu a mala dela.
They traded bags right there at the desk. Perla opened her own bag and found her wallet inside. Both of them checked their tags twice before leaving.
Eles trocaram as malas ali mesmo, no balcão. Perla abriu a própria mala e encontrou a carteira lá dentro. Os dois checaram as etiquetas duas vezes antes de ir embora.
