He lived on the third floor of an old building. At first, he thought it was the radio. But the voice often stopped. Then it started the same song again.

On Monday, he left his apartment early. He stood in the hallway and listened. The sound came from above. He went up the stairs to the fourth floor.
Na segunda-feira, ele saiu de casa cedo. Ficou no corredor e escutou. O som vinha de cima. Ele subiu a escada até o quarto andar.
The singing was louder at the door of number 42. Calum did not knock. He felt shy and went to work.
O canto era mais alto na porta do número 42. Calum não bateu. Sentiu vergonha e foi trabalhar.
On Tuesday, he came back. This time he knocked.
Na terça-feira, ele voltou. Desta vez, bateu.
An old woman opened the door. She had white hair and a warm, blue sweater.
Uma senhora idosa abriu a porta. Ela tinha cabelo branco e um suéter azul quentinho.
"Oh!" she said. "Is my singing too loud?"
"Ah!", ela disse. "Meu canto está alto demais?"
"No, no," Calum said. "I only want to know who sings."
"Não, não", disse Calum. "Eu só quero saber quem canta."
She laughed. "I sing in a choir. We have a concert on Sunday. I practice every morning at seven."
Ela riu. "Eu canto num coral. Temos um concerto no domingo. Eu ensaio todas as manhãs às sete."
"It is a lovely song," he said.
"É uma música linda", ele disse.
"Thank you. Come to the concert," she said. "Sit in front, and I will sing for you."
"Obrigada. Venha ao concerto", ela disse. "Sente na frente, e eu cantarei para você."
