Wren returns a library book on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Otto, the new librarian, checks the book back in.
Wren devolve um livro da biblioteca numa tarde tranquila de terça-feira. Otto, o novo bibliotecário, registra a devolução do livro.
Something falls out of the pages. It is a small, folded note. Otto picks it up and reads it.
Algo cai de dentro das páginas. É um pequeno bilhete dobrado. Otto o pega e o lê.
The note says, "Meet me at the fountain, three o'clock, Friday." There is no name on it.
O bilhete diz: "Me encontre na fonte, três horas, sexta-feira." Não há nenhum nome nele.
"This book is very old," Otto says. "The note is probably many years old too."
"Este livro é muito antigo", diz Otto. "O bilhete provavelmente também tem muitos anos."
Wren looks at the book's return card inside the cover. It has names and dates written by hand.
Wren olha para o cartão de devolução do livro, dentro da capa. Ele tem nomes e datas escritos à mão.
"Look," Wren says. "This name is from ten years ago. Maybe it's the same person."
"Olha", diz Wren. "Este nome é de dez anos atrás. Talvez seja a mesma pessoa."
Otto is new at the library and doesn't know the old system. Wren explains how the card works.

They find three names from that year. Wren checks the library's old newsletter on the shelf.
Eles encontram três nomes daquele ano. Wren verifica o boletim antigo da biblioteca na estante.
"This name matches," Wren says. "She worked here on Fridays, ten years ago."
"Este nome bate", diz Wren. "Ela trabalhava aqui às sextas-feiras, dez anos atrás."
Otto smiles. "You are very good at this," he says. "And you only started today."
Otto sorri. "Você é muito boa nisso", diz ele. "E você só começou hoje."
They decide to leave the note in a new book. The next reader can find it.
Eles decidem deixar o bilhete em um livro novo. O próximo leitor pode encontrá-lo.
"Someone will find it," Wren says, "just like we did."
"Alguém vai encontrá-lo", diz Wren, "assim como nós encontramos."
