The Snow Day Walk

Cato wakes up and looks out of the window. Snow is everywhere. The street is white and quiet.

Cato bangun dan melihat ke luar jendela. Salju ada di mana-mana. Jalanan putih dan sunyi.

He puts on his coat, his hat, and big boots. He takes his bag and leaves the house.

Ia mengenakan mantel, topi, dan sepatu bot yang besar. Ia mengambil tasnya dan meninggalkan rumah.

The walk to school is slow. The snow comes up to his knees. He falls once, and he laughs.

Perjalanan ke sekolah berjalan lambat. Salju setinggi lututnya. Ia terjatuh sekali, dan ia tertawa.

There are no cars on the road. There are no children. Cato thinks, "Maybe they are all late."

Tidak ada mobil di jalan. Tidak ada anak-anak. Cato berpikir, "Mungkin mereka semua terlambat."

At school, the doors are shut. The yard is empty. Cato looks at the windows. They are dark.

Di sekolah, pintu-pintunya tertutup. Halamannya kosong. Cato melihat ke jendela-jendela. Semuanya gelap.

A teacher stands by the front door. She has a big shovel. She moves the snow away from the steps.

Seorang guru berdiri di dekat pintu depan. Ia membawa sekop besar. Ia menyingkirkan salju dari anak tangga.

"Cato!" she says. "Why are you here?" "It is Monday," he says. "I have school."

"Cato!" katanya. "Kenapa kamu ada di sini?" "Hari ini hari Senin," katanya. "Saya ada sekolah."

She laughs. "The school is closed today. There is too much snow. Did you not read the message?"

Guru itu tertawa. "Sekolah libur hari ini. Saljunya terlalu banyak. Kamu tidak membaca pesannya?"

Cato takes out his phone. There is one new message from last night. It says, "School closed." His face turns red.

Cato mengeluarkan ponselnya. Ada satu pesan baru dari tadi malam. Isinya, "Sekolah libur." Wajahnya memerah.

The teacher points to a second shovel by the wall. Cato takes it. He starts to push the snow.

Guru itu menunjuk sekop kedua di dekat dinding. Cato mengambilnya. Ia mulai mendorong salju.
