The Lost Child at the Market

It is Saturday, and the market is busy. Lupita walks between the stalls. She needs tomatoes for her mom.

Hari Sabtu, dan pasar ramai. Lupita berjalan di antara lapak-lapak. Ia perlu membeli tomat untuk ibunya.

Many people talk and laugh. Then she hears crying. A small boy stands alone by a box of oranges. His face is wet.

Banyak orang berbicara dan tertawa. Lalu ia mendengar tangisan. Seorang anak laki-laki kecil berdiri sendirian di dekat sekotak jeruk. Wajahnya basah.

Lupita kneels down. "Hello," she says. "What is your name?"

Lupita berlutut. "Halo," katanya. "Siapa namamu?"

"Teo," the boy says.

"Teo," kata anak itu.

"Where is your dad, Teo?"

"Di mana ayahmu, Teo?"

"I don't know," he says. He cries again.

"Aku tidak tahu," katanya. Ia menangis lagi.

"It is okay," Lupita says. "Let's look for him together. What does your dad wear?"

"Tidak apa-apa," kata Lupita. "Ayo kita cari dia bersama-sama. Ayahmu pakai apa?"

"A yellow hat."

"Topi kuning."

"Good. Hold my hand."

"Bagus. Pegang tanganku."

They walk through the market. Lupita looks for a yellow hat. She sees many people, but no yellow hat.

Mereka berjalan menyusuri pasar. Lupita mencari topi kuning. Ia melihat banyak orang, tetapi tidak ada topi kuning.

"Where did you see your dad last?" she asks.

"Terakhir kali kamu melihat ayahmu di mana?" tanyanya.

"At the fruit stall," Teo says. "He buys apples."

"Di lapak buah," kata Teo. "Ayah beli apel."

"Then let's go there and wait," she says.

"Kalau begitu, ayo kita ke sana dan menunggu," katanya.

They stand by the fruit stall. The seller gives Teo a slice of apple. He stops crying and eats it.

Mereka berdiri di dekat lapak buah. Penjualnya memberi Teo sepotong apel. Ia berhenti menangis dan memakannya.

Soon a man in a yellow hat runs to them. "Teo!" he shouts. Teo runs to him, and the man picks him up.

Tak lama kemudian seorang pria bertopi kuning berlari menghampiri mereka. "Teo!" teriaknya. Teo berlari kepadanya, dan pria itu mengangkatnya.

"Thank you," the dad says. He gives Lupita a big red apple.

"Terima kasih," kata sang ayah. Ia memberi Lupita sebuah apel merah yang besar.

She takes it and goes back to find her tomatoes.

Lupita menerimanya dan pergi mencari tomatnya lagi.
