The Borrowed Textbook

Hazel usually keeps her backpack very organized. Tonight, her chemistry book was simply not there. She felt a little worried at first.

Hazel biasanya menjaga ranselnya tetap rapi. Malam ini, buku kimianya benar-benar tidak ada. Awalnya ia merasa sedikit cemas.

Hazel forgot her chemistry textbook at home. Her test was the next morning. She needed to study that night.

Hazel meninggalkan buku pelajaran kimianya di rumah. Ujiannya besok pagi. Ia harus belajar malam itu.

She called her classmate Delphine. "Can I borrow your textbook?" she asked. "I need it just for tonight."

Ia menelepon teman sekelasnya, Delphine. "Boleh aku pinjam bukumu?" tanyanya. "Aku hanya butuh untuk malam ini."

Delphine agreed but had one condition. "I need it back by eight," she said. "I also have an early test."

Delphine setuju, tetapi dengan satu syarat. "Aku butuh bukunya kembali sebelum jam delapan," katanya. "Aku juga ada ujian pagi."

Hazel rode her bike to Delphine's house. She picked up the heavy textbook. She thanked Delphine and rode straight home.

Hazel mengayuh sepedanya ke rumah Delphine. Ia mengambil buku pelajaran yang tebal itu. Ia berterima kasih kepada Delphine dan langsung pulang naik sepeda.

She studied for three hours that night. She wrote notes on every important page. She packed the textbook in her bag.

Malam itu ia belajar selama tiga jam. Ia menulis catatan di setiap halaman penting. Ia memasukkan buku itu ke dalam tasnya.

The next morning, she woke up early. She rode to school before the first bell. She found Delphine by the lockers.

Keesokan paginya, ia bangun pagi-pagi. Ia mengayuh sepeda ke sekolah sebelum bel pertama. Ia menemukan Delphine di dekat loker.

"Here's your book," Hazel said. "Thank you very much for this." Delphine smiled and took it back quickly.

"Ini bukumu," kata Hazel. "Terima kasih banyak untuk ini." Delphine tersenyum dan segera mengambilnya kembali.

"Good luck on your test," Delphine said. Hazel walked into her classroom and smiled.

"Semoga sukses di ujianmu," kata Delphine. Hazel masuk ke kelasnya dan tersenyum.

She sat down and opened her test booklet. She remembered every page from the night before.
