The Lights That Heard Party

Eamon's parents come to his flat for dinner. He wants a quiet and calm evening. He cooks pasta and puts candles on the table. The smart lights in the room are soft and yellow.

Orang tua Eamon datang ke flatnya untuk makan malam. Ia ingin malam yang tenang dan santai. Ia memasak pasta dan menaruh lilin di atas meja. Lampu pintar di ruangan itu lembut dan berwarna kuning.

His mother sits down and smiles. "This is lovely," she says. "It is like a small party."

Ibunya duduk dan tersenyum. "Ini indah sekali," katanya. "Seperti pesta kecil."

Right away, the lights change. They go red, then blue, then green. They flash fast, again and again. Music starts from the speaker in the corner.

Seketika, lampu-lampu berubah. Warnanya jadi merah, lalu biru, lalu hijau. Lampu berkedip cepat, berulang kali. Musik mulai terdengar dari pengeras suara di sudut ruangan.

"What is this?" his father asks.

"Apa ini?" tanya ayahnya.

"It is the lights," Eamon says. "They hear the word party. They think you want a disco."

"Ini lampunya," kata Eamon. "Mereka mendengar kata pesta. Mereka mengira Ayah dan Ibu mau disko."

"A disco?" his mother says. "How nice!"

"Disko?" kata ibunya. "Wah, menyenangkan!"

Eamon says, "Lights, stop!" The lights do not stop. He says it again, louder. The lights flash faster. He pushes the buttons on the wall, but nothing happens.

Eamon berkata, "Lampu, berhenti!" Lampu-lampu itu tidak berhenti. Ia mengatakannya lagi, lebih keras. Lampu berkedip makin cepat. Ia menekan tombol-tombol di dinding, tetapi tidak terjadi apa-apa.

His father stands up and starts to dance. He moves his arms and turns around in the colors. He is not a good dancer, but he is very happy. His mother claps her hands.

Ayahnya berdiri dan mulai berdansa. Ia menggerakkan lengannya dan berputar di tengah warna-warni itu. Ia bukan penari yang baik, tetapi ia sangat gembira. Ibunya bertepuk tangan.

Eamon takes his phone and opens the lights app. He looks at the list of settings. There is a button called Party Mode. He presses it, and the button turns off.

Eamon mengambil ponselnya dan membuka aplikasi lampu. Ia melihat daftar pengaturan. Ada sebuah tombol bernama Mode Pesta. Ia menekannya, dan tombol itu mati.

The lights go back to soft yellow. The music stops.

Lampu kembali menjadi kuning lembut. Musiknya berhenti.

"Oh," his father says. He is still in the middle of the room. "Can we do that again?"

"Oh," kata ayahnya. Ia masih berdiri di tengah ruangan. "Bisa kita ulangi lagi?"
