The Borrowed Umbrella

Nadia left work quickly on a rainy afternoon. She grabbed an umbrella from the stand by the door.

बारिश वाली एक दोपहर नादिया जल्दी से ऑफ़िस से निकली। उसने दरवाज़े के पास के स्टैंड से एक छाता उठा लिया।

She opened it outside and walked to the bus stop. The umbrella kept her dry all the way home.

उसने उसे बाहर जाकर खोला और बस स्टॉप तक पैदल गई। छाते ने उसे पूरे रास्ते घर तक भीगने से बचाए रखा।

At home, Nadia looked at the umbrella closely. It was dark blue, not black like hers.

घर पर नादिया ने छाते को ग़ौर से देखा। वह गहरे नीले रंग का था, उसके छाते की तरह काला नहीं।

She saw small white letters near the handle. They spelled out "J.K."

उसे हैंडल के पास छोटे-छोटे सफ़ेद अक्षर दिखे। उनमें "J.K." लिखा था।

Nadia's umbrella did not have any letters on it. She picked up the wrong one by mistake.

नादिया के छाते पर कोई अक्षर नहीं थे। उसने ग़लती से किसी और का छाता उठा लिया था।

The next morning, she brought the blue umbrella back to the office. She put it back on the stand.

अगली सुबह वह नीला छाता वापस ऑफ़िस ले आई। उसने उसे स्टैंड में वापस रख दिया।

A coworker named Jonah walked over. "Did you see my umbrella?" he asked. "It's dark blue with my initials."

जोना नाम का एक सहकर्मी उसके पास आया। "क्या तुमने मेरा छाता देखा?" उसने पूछा। "वह गहरा नीला है और उस पर मेरे नाम के पहले अक्षर लिखे हैं।"

"I think I took it home by mistake," Nadia said. "I'm very sorry. Here it is."

"मुझे लगता है मैं ग़लती से उसे घर ले गई थी," नादिया ने कहा। "मुझे बहुत अफ़सोस है। यह लो।"

Jonah smiled. "No problem. Rainy days confuse everyone's umbrellas."

जोना मुस्कुराया। "कोई बात नहीं। बारिश के दिनों में सबके छाते गड़बड़ा जाते हैं।"

Nadia found her own black umbrella under her desk. It was there the whole time.

नादिया को अपना काला छाता अपनी मेज़ के नीचे मिल गया। वह पूरे समय वहीं रखा था।

She laughed and told Jonah the whole story. They both agreed to check umbrellas carefully next time.

वह हँस पड़ी और जोना को पूरी कहानी सुना दी। दोनों इस बात पर सहमत हुए कि अगली बार छाते ध्यान से देखकर उठाएँगे।
