Salma's family decides to adopt a dog. They visit the animal shelter together. Two dogs make Salma stop and look.
सलमा का परिवार एक कुत्ता गोद लेने का फ़ैसला करता है। वे सब साथ मिलकर जानवरों के आश्रय-घर जाते हैं। दो कुत्ते सलमा को रुककर देखने पर मजबूर कर देते हैं।
One dog is small, calm, and quiet. The other dog is big and full of energy. Salma cannot decide between the two dogs.
एक कुत्ता छोटा, शांत और चुप है। दूसरा कुत्ता बड़ा और जोश से भरा है। सलमा इन दोनों कुत्तों में से एक को नहीं चुन पाती।
The small dog sits calmly by her feet. The big dog jumps and wags its tail. Both dogs seem to want a home.
छोटा कुत्ता उसके पैरों के पास शांति से बैठा है। बड़ा कुत्ता उछलता है और पूँछ हिलाता है। दोनों कुत्ते एक घर चाहते लगते हैं।
Salma walks around the shelter a little. She looks at other dogs in their cages. Her mind keeps returning to these two.
सलमा आश्रय-घर में थोड़ा घूमती है। वह दूसरे कुत्तों को उनके पिंजरों में देखती है। उसका मन बार-बार इन्हीं दोनों के पास लौट आता है।
Salma asks the shelter worker for advice. "Think about your daily life," the worker says. "Which dog fits your family better?"
सलमा आश्रय-घर के कर्मचारी से सलाह माँगती है। "अपनी रोज़ की ज़िंदगी के बारे में सोचिए," कर्मचारी कहता है। "आपके परिवार के लिए कौन-सा कुत्ता ज़्यादा ठीक रहेगा?"
Salma thinks about her small apartment. She thinks about her short daily walks. She thinks about her busy school week too.
सलमा अपने छोटे अपार्टमेंट के बारे में सोचती है। वह अपनी रोज़ की छोटी सैर के बारे में सोचती है। वह अपने व्यस्त स्कूल वाले हफ़्ते के बारे में भी सोचती है।
The calm, small dog seems like a better fit. She sits down next to the small dog. It rests its head on her lap.
शांत, छोटा कुत्ता ज़्यादा ठीक लगता है। वह छोटे कुत्ते के पास बैठ जाती है। वह अपना सिर उसकी गोद में रख देता है।
The big dog barks once from its cage. Salma smiles and looks over at it. Maybe another family will choose him soon.
बड़ा कुत्ता अपने पिंजरे से एक बार भौंकता है। सलमा मुस्कुराकर उसकी ओर देखती है। शायद कोई और परिवार जल्दी ही उसे चुन ले।
She clips a new leash onto the small dog's collar.
वह छोटे कुत्ते के पट्टे में एक नई रस्सी लगा देती है।
