Saanvi has a new kite. It is red and yellow, with a long tail. Today she takes it to the park.
Saanvi tiene una cometa nueva. Es roja y amarilla, con una cola larga. Hoy la lleva al parque.
The wind is strong. The kite goes up fast. It flies high above the trees. Saanvi laughs.
El viento es fuerte. La cometa sube rápido. Vuela muy alto, por encima de los árboles. Saanvi se ríe.
Then the wind changes. The kite spins and falls. It hits a tall tree and stops. It hangs on a high branch.
Entonces el viento cambia. La cometa da vueltas y cae. Choca contra un árbol alto y se detiene. Queda colgada de una rama alta.
Saanvi pulls the string. Nothing happens. She pulls harder. The kite does not move.
Saanvi tira del hilo. No pasa nada. Tira más fuerte. La cometa no se mueve.
She tries to climb the tree. The first branch is too high. She jumps, but she cannot touch it. "Oh no," she says.
Intenta trepar al árbol. La primera rama está demasiado alta. Salta, pero no puede tocarla. «Ay, no», dice.
A park worker walks by. He wears a green jacket. He has a long pole with a hook.
Un trabajador del parque pasa caminando. Lleva una chaqueta verde. Tiene un palo largo con un gancho.
"Is that your kite?" he asks.
«¿Es suya esa cometa?», pregunta.
"Yes. It is new," Saanvi says.
«Sí. Es nueva», dice Saanvi.
"Stand back, please," he says. He lifts the pole slowly. The hook touches the string. The kite slides down into his hands.
«Hágase atrás, por favor», dice él. Levanta el palo despacio. El gancho toca el hilo. La cometa se desliza hasta sus manos.
"Thank you!" Saanvi says.
«¡Gracias!», dice Saanvi.
"Fly it in the open field," he says. "There are no trees there."
«Hágala volar en el campo abierto», dice él. «Allí no hay árboles.»
They walk to the big field together. The worker holds the kite high. Saanvi runs. The kite goes up and up. It flies far above the tall tree. Saanvi waves to the worker.
Caminan juntos hasta el gran campo. El trabajador sostiene la cometa en alto. Saanvi corre. La cometa sube y sube. Vuela muy por encima del árbol alto. Saanvi saluda al trabajador con la mano.
