Saanvi has a new kite. It is red and yellow, with a long tail. Today she takes it to the park.
Saanvi tem uma pipa nova. É vermelha e amarela, com uma cauda comprida. Hoje ela a leva ao parque.
The wind is strong. The kite goes up fast. It flies high above the trees. Saanvi laughs.
O vento está forte. A pipa sobe rápido. Voa alto, acima das árvores. Saanvi ri.
Then the wind changes. The kite spins and falls. It hits a tall tree and stops. It hangs on a high branch.
Então o vento muda. A pipa gira e cai. Bate numa árvore alta e para. Ela fica pendurada num galho alto.
Saanvi pulls the string. Nothing happens. She pulls harder. The kite does not move.
Saanvi puxa a linha. Nada acontece. Ela puxa mais forte. A pipa não se move.
She tries to climb the tree. The first branch is too high. She jumps, but she cannot touch it. "Oh no," she says.
Ela tenta subir na árvore. O primeiro galho é alto demais. Ela pula, mas não consegue tocá-lo. "Ah, não", diz ela.
A park worker walks by. He wears a green jacket. He has a long pole with a hook.
Um funcionário do parque passa por ali. Ele usa uma jaqueta verde. Tem uma vara comprida com um gancho.
"Is that your kite?" he asks.
"Aquela pipa é sua?", ele pergunta.
"Yes. It is new," Saanvi says.
"É. Ela é nova", diz Saanvi.
"Stand back, please," he says. He lifts the pole slowly. The hook touches the string. The kite slides down into his hands.
"Fique para trás, por favor", ele diz. Ele levanta a vara devagar. O gancho toca a linha. A pipa desliza e cai nas mãos dele.
"Thank you!" Saanvi says.
"Obrigada!", diz Saanvi.
"Fly it in the open field," he says. "There are no trees there."
"Solte a pipa no campo aberto", ele diz. "Lá não tem árvores."
They walk to the big field together. The worker holds the kite high. Saanvi runs. The kite goes up and up. It flies far above the tall tree. Saanvi waves to the worker.
Eles caminham juntos até o campo grande. O funcionário segura a pipa no alto. Saanvi corre. A pipa sobe e sobe. Voa bem acima da árvore alta. Saanvi acena para o funcionário.
