Daria took the night bus home from the city. The bus was almost empty at this hour. She sat near the back, close to the window.
Daria tomó el bus nocturno a casa desde la ciudad. El bus estaba casi vacío a esa hora. Se sentó cerca de la parte de atrás, junto a la ventana.
A man two seats ahead turned to look at her. Daria felt sure she knew his face. She could not remember his name.
Un hombre dos asientos más adelante se volteó a mirarla. Daria estaba segura de conocer su cara. No podía recordar su nombre.
The bus stopped, and a few people got off. The man stood up and walked toward her seat.
El bus se detuvo, y algunas personas se bajaron. El hombre se levantó y caminó hacia su asiento.
"Excuse me," he said. "Did you live on Elm Street?"
«Disculpa», dijo él. «¿Viviste en la calle Elm?»
Daria's eyes went wide. "Yes, years ago," she said.
Los ojos de Daria se abrieron grandes. «Sí, hace años», dijo.
"I'm Anselm. Our families were neighbors long ago," he said.
«Soy Anselm. Nuestras familias fueron vecinas hace mucho tiempo», dijo él.
Daria smiled and looked at him closely. "Anselm! I remember the tree house now," she said.
Daria sonrió y lo miró de cerca. «¡Anselm! Ahora recuerdo la casa del árbol», dijo ella.
They talked about their old street for a while. Daria's stop came, and she stood up to leave.
Hablaron sobre su antigua calle durante un rato. Llegó la parada de Daria, y ella se levantó para bajarse.
"It was good to see you," she said.
«Fue bueno verte», dijo ella.
She stepped off the bus into the cool night air. She waved through the window. The bus pulled away.
Bajó del bus al aire fresco de la noche. Se despidió con la mano a través de la ventana. El bus se alejó.
