The old shop on Taini's street was closed all year. The windows were dusty. A sign on the door said "Closed."
Taini passed the shop every day on her way home. She never looked at it. Then one evening, she saw a light inside. The next night, the light was there again. It was there every night.
"Is someone in the old shop?" she asked her neighbor.
"I do not know," her neighbor said. "The door is always locked."
This was very strange. Taini thought about the light at work. She thought about it at dinner.
On Thursday evening, she stopped at the window. She cleaned the glass with her sleeve and looked inside.
A man stood in the shop with a big brush. He had white paint on his shirt. The walls were bright and clean.
Taini knocked on the glass. The man opened the door.
"Hello," he said. "Did I scare you?"
"I see your light every night," Taini said.
"I work here after my day job," he said. "This shop is my new bakery."
"A bakery!" Taini said.
"Yes. Come on the first day. The first bread is for you."
"Then I am first in line," Taini said.
