The Jacket with the Broken Zipper

Ronan has a big work dinner tonight. He puts on his favorite jacket to get ready. The zipper does not close.

Ronan tem um grande jantar de trabalho hoje à noite. Ele veste seu casaco favorito para se arrumar. O zíper não fecha.

He pulls the zipper up and down. It sticks in the same spot every time. Ronan checks the clock on the wall.

Ele puxa o zíper para cima e para baixo. Ele emperra sempre no mesmo lugar. Ronan olha o relógio na parede.

The dinner starts in two hours. He grabs the jacket and his car keys. He drives straight to the tailor on Elm Street.

O jantar começa em duas horas. Ele pega o casaco e as chaves do carro. Ele dirige direto para o alfaiate na Rua Elm.

A man named Osei sits at a sewing machine. "Can you help me?" Ronan asks. "My zipper is stuck."

Um homem chamado Osei está sentado numa máquina de costura. "Você pode me ajudar?" Ronan pergunta. "Meu zíper está emperrado."

Osei takes the jacket and looks closely. "One small piece is bent," he says. "I can fix this fast."

Osei pega o casaco e olha de perto. "Uma peça pequena está torta", ele diz. "Posso consertar isso rápido."

He uses a tiny tool to bend the metal back. Then he tests the zipper twice. It slides up without a problem.

Ele usa uma ferramenta pequena para dobrar o metal de volta. Depois ele testa o zíper duas vezes. Ele desliza para cima sem problema.

"All fixed," Osei says. "That is ten dollars." Ronan pays and puts the jacket on right away.

"Tudo consertado", Osei diz. "São dez dólares." Ronan paga e coloca o casaco na hora.

He checks his watch again. He has one hour before the dinner. Ronan thanks Osei and drives back home.

He walks into the dinner right on time. His jacket looks great under the lights. Nobody notices the small repair at all.
