The Wrong Train Ticket

Peter wants to visit his sister in Riverton. He walks to the train station early in the morning.

Peter ingin mengunjungi kakak perempuannya di Riverton. Ia berjalan ke stasiun kereta pagi-pagi sekali.

He goes to the ticket counter and waits in line. "One ticket to Riverton, please," he says.

Ia pergi ke loket tiket dan menunggu dalam antrean. "Satu tiket ke Riverton, tolong," katanya.

The clerk types on her computer. She prints a ticket and hands it to him.

Petugas itu mengetik di komputernya. Ia mencetak sebuah tiket dan menyerahkannya kepadanya.

Peter pays for the ticket. He thanks the clerk and walks toward the platform.

Peter membayar tiket itu. Ia berterima kasih kepada petugas dan berjalan menuju peron.

He waits for his train. He looks down at the ticket in his hand.

Ia menunggu keretanya. Ia menunduk melihat tiket di tangannya.

Peter stops. The ticket says "Lakeside," not "Riverton." He reads it again, but it still says Lakeside.

Peter berhenti. Tiket itu bertuliskan "Lakeside," bukan "Riverton." Ia membacanya lagi, tetapi tetap tertulis Lakeside.

He walks back to the ticket counter. "Excuse me," he says. "This ticket is wrong."

Ia berjalan kembali ke loket tiket. "Permisi," katanya. "Tiket ini salah."

"I asked for a ticket to Riverton," Peter explains. The clerk looks at the ticket.

"Saya meminta tiket ke Riverton," jelas Peter. Petugas itu melihat tiket tersebut.

"I'm sorry," she says. "I typed the wrong city. Let me print a new one."

"Maaf," katanya. "Saya salah mengetik kotanya. Biar saya cetak yang baru."

She types again and checks the screen twice. Then she prints a new ticket.

Ia mengetik lagi dan memeriksa layar dua kali. Lalu ia mencetak tiket baru.

"Here is your ticket to Riverton," she says. Peter checks it carefully.

"Ini tiket Anda ke Riverton," katanya. Peter memeriksanya dengan teliti.

The new ticket says "Riverton" now. Peter smiles and thanks the clerk.

Tiket baru itu kini bertuliskan "Riverton." Peter tersenyum dan berterima kasih kepada petugas.

He walks back to the platform. The train to Riverton waits by the platform.

Ia berjalan kembali ke peron. Kereta tujuan Riverton menunggu di peron itu.

Peter finds a seat by the window and sits down. He puts the old ticket in the trash can.

Peter menemukan kursi di dekat jendela dan duduk. Ia membuang tiket lama itu ke tempat sampah.

Then he puts the new ticket safely in his bag. The train doors close, and the train starts to move.

Lalu ia menyimpan tiket baru itu dengan aman di tasnya. Pintu kereta menutup, dan kereta mulai bergerak.
