The Soup for a Sick Friend

Coco's friend was sick. He lay in bed for three days. Coco wanted to help, so she made soup.

Teman Coco sedang sakit. Ia berbaring di tempat tidur selama tiga hari. Coco ingin membantu, jadi ia membuat sup.

She cut carrots and onions. She put them in a big pot. She added chicken and water. She cooked it slowly for an hour. The kitchen smelled good.

Ia memotong wortel dan bawang. Ia memasukkannya ke dalam panci besar. Ia menambahkan ayam dan air. Ia memasaknya perlahan selama satu jam. Dapurnya berbau sedap.

Then Coco tasted the soup. Her face changed. It was far too salty! She put salt in the pot two times by mistake.

Lalu Coco mencicipi supnya. Wajahnya berubah. Rasanya asin sekali! Ia memasukkan garam ke dalam panci dua kali karena tidak sengaja.

She looked at the pot. She could not give this soup to a sick friend. For a minute, she did not know what to do.

Ia menatap panci itu. Ia tidak bisa memberikan sup ini kepada temannya yang sedang sakit. Selama semenit, ia tidak tahu harus berbuat apa.

Then she remembered her mom's words. "Potatoes help," her mom always said.

Lalu ia teringat kata-kata ibunya. "Kentang membantu," kata ibunya selalu.

Coco added a lot of water. She cut three potatoes and put them in the pot. She cooked the soup for half an hour. Then she tasted it again. Now it was good.

Coco menambahkan banyak air. Ia memotong tiga buah kentang dan memasukkannya ke panci. Ia memasak sup itu selama setengah jam. Lalu ia mencicipinya lagi. Sekarang rasanya enak.

She poured the soup into a big jar. She took the bus to her friend's flat. He sat up in bed and smelled the jar.

Ia menuang sup itu ke dalam toples besar. Ia naik bus ke flat temannya. Temannya duduk di tempat tidur dan mencium aroma toples itu.

He ate one bowl. "More, please," he said. He ate a second bowl too.

Ia makan semangkuk. "Tambah lagi, ya," katanya. Ia makan semangkuk kedua juga.

Coco did not tell him about the salt.

Coco tidak memberi tahu dia soal garamnya.
