The Soup for a Sick Friend

Coco's friend was sick. He lay in bed for three days. Coco wanted to help, so she made soup.

She cut carrots and onions. She put them in a big pot. She added chicken and water. She cooked it slowly for an hour. The kitchen smelled good.

Then Coco tasted the soup. Her face changed. It was far too salty! She put salt in the pot two times by mistake.

She looked at the pot. She could not give this soup to a sick friend. For a minute, she did not know what to do.

Cô nhìn cái nồi. Cô không thể đem món súp này cho một người bạn đang ốm. Một lúc, cô không biết phải làm gì.

Then she remembered her mom's words. "Potatoes help," her mom always said.

Rồi cô nhớ đến lời mẹ. "Khoai tây giúp đó con," mẹ cô vẫn luôn nói vậy.

Coco added a lot of water. She cut three potatoes and put them in the pot. She cooked the soup for half an hour. Then she tasted it again. Now it was good.

Coco đổ thêm thật nhiều nước. Cô cắt ba củ khoai tây và cho vào nồi. Cô nấu súp thêm nửa tiếng. Rồi cô nếm lại. Bây giờ thì ngon rồi.

She poured the soup into a big jar. She took the bus to her friend's flat. He sat up in bed and smelled the jar.

Cô rót súp vào một chiếc hũ lớn. Cô đi xe buýt đến căn hộ của bạn. Cậu ngồi dậy trên giường và ngửi chiếc hũ.

He ate one bowl. "More, please," he said. He ate a second bowl too.

Cậu ăn một bát. "Cho mình thêm nữa," cậu nói. Cậu ăn thêm bát thứ hai nữa.

Coco did not tell him about the salt.

Coco không kể với cậu về chuyện muối.
