The Lawn Robot Next Door

Chiara had a small, round robot. It cut the grass in her garden every Tuesday morning. She liked it very much.

Chiara punya robot kecil yang bulat. Robot itu memotong rumput di kebunnya setiap Selasa pagi. Ia sangat menyukainya.

One Tuesday, she looked out of the window. The robot was not on her grass. It was in the garden next door.

Pada suatu Selasa, ia melihat ke luar jendela. Robot itu tidak ada di rumputnya. Robot itu ada di kebun sebelah.

Her neighbor, an old man, stood at his back door. He watched the robot. It cut his grass in neat lines. He smiled and waved at Chiara.

Tetangganya, seorang pria tua, berdiri di pintu belakang rumahnya. Ia memperhatikan robot itu. Robot itu memotong rumputnya dalam garis-garis rapi. Ia tersenyum dan melambai kepada Chiara.

Chiara did not know what to say. She waved back and went inside.

Chiara tidak tahu harus berkata apa. Ia balas melambai lalu masuk ke dalam.

The next Tuesday, the robot went next door again. The old man sat in his chair and watched it. He looked very happy.

Selasa berikutnya, robot itu pergi ke sebelah lagi. Pria tua itu duduk di kursinya dan menontonnya. Ia tampak sangat senang.

On Wednesday, he knocked on her door. He had a cake in his hands. "This is for you," he said. "Thank you for the free grass. It is a very kind gift."

Pada hari Rabu, ia mengetuk pintu rumah Chiara. Di tangannya ada sebuah kue. "Ini untukmu," katanya. "Terima kasih untuk rumput gratisnya. Itu hadiah yang sangat baik."

Chiara's face went red. "It is not a gift," she said. "It is a mistake. My robot goes to your garden by itself."

Wajah Chiara memerah. "Itu bukan hadiah," katanya. "Itu kesalahan. Robotku pergi ke kebun Bapak sendiri."

The old man laughed. He laughed so loudly that Chiara laughed too.

Pria tua itu tertawa. Ia tertawa begitu keras sampai Chiara ikut tertawa.

"Then it is a very kind mistake," he said. "Let us eat the cake."

"Kalau begitu, itu kesalahan yang sangat baik," katanya. "Mari kita makan kuenya."

They sat in her kitchen. Chiara opened the robot app on her phone. She found a map of her garden. The robot's map was too big. It had a line around his garden too.

Mereka duduk di dapur Chiara. Chiara membuka aplikasi robot di ponselnya. Ia menemukan peta kebunnya. Peta robot itu terlalu besar. Ada garis yang mengelilingi kebun pria itu juga.

She pressed a button and made the map smaller. Then she took a big piece of cake.

Ia menekan sebuah tombol dan memperkecil petanya. Lalu ia mengambil sepotong besar kue.
