A man and his wife had the good fortune to own a Goose that laid a golden egg every single day.
Seorang pria dan istrinya beruntung memiliki seekor Angsa yang bertelur emas setiap hari.
Lucky though they were, they soon began to think they were not getting rich fast enough.
Meskipun beruntung, mereka segera berpikir bahwa mereka tidak menjadi kaya cukup cepat.
They imagined that if the Goose could lay golden eggs, she must be made of gold inside. So they thought that if they could get all that gold at once, they would become very rich indeed.
Mereka membayangkan bahwa jika Angsa itu bisa bertelur emas, pasti di dalam tubuhnya terbuat dari emas. Maka mereka berpikir jika mereka bisa mendapatkan semua emas itu sekaligus, mereka akan menjadi sangat kaya.
So the man and his wife decided to kill the Goose. But when they cut her open, they found that she was exactly like any other goose. There was no gold inside her at all.
Maka pria dan istrinya itu memutuskan untuk membunuh Angsa tersebut. Namun ketika mereka membelahnya, mereka mendapati bahwa angsa itu persis seperti angsa biasa lainnya. Tidak ada emas sama sekali di dalamnya.
Now they had neither their daily golden egg nor their precious Goose.
Kini mereka tidak lagi memiliki telur emas harian mereka maupun Angsa berharga mereka.
Those who have plenty want more, and so lose all that they have.
