The Changed Gate Number

Soraya waits at the airport for her flight. She checks the screen above the gates. Her gate number changes from twelve to twenty.

Soraya menunggu penerbangannya di bandara. Ia memeriksa layar di atas pintu-pintu keberangkatan. Nomor gerbangnya berubah dari dua belas menjadi dua puluh.

She looks around the gate area. A man sits asleep in a chair nearby. His ticket shows the old gate number, twelve.

Ia memandang ke sekeliling area gerbang. Seorang pria tidur di kursi dekat situ. Tiketnya menunjukkan nomor gerbang yang lama, dua belas.

Soraya walks over and taps his shoulder gently. "Excuse me, sir," she says.

Soraya menghampirinya dan menepuk bahunya dengan lembut. "Permisi, Pak," katanya.

Otto opens his eyes and looks up. "Your gate changed," Soraya says. "It's twenty now."

Otto membuka matanya dan menengadah. "Gerbang Bapak berubah," kata Soraya. "Sekarang nomor dua puluh."

Otto looks at his ticket, then at the screen. "Oh no, thank you," he says, and stands up fast.

Otto melihat tiketnya, lalu layar itu. "Astaga, terima kasih," katanya, dan berdiri dengan cepat.

He grabs his bag and his cane. "I almost missed my flight," he says.

Ia menyambar tas dan tongkatnya. "Hampir saja saya ketinggalan pesawat," katanya.

They walk together toward the new gate. Soraya carries his small bag for him.

Mereka berjalan bersama menuju gerbang yang baru. Soraya membawakan tas kecilnya.

"You saved me today," Otto says with a smile.

"Kamu menyelamatkan saya hari ini," kata Otto sambil tersenyum.

"I just have good eyes," Soraya says, and laughs.

"Saya hanya kebetulan jeli," kata Soraya, lalu tertawa.

They reach gate twenty. Boarding starts right away. Otto shakes her hand and gets in line.

Mereka sampai di gerbang dua puluh. Pemanggilan penumpang langsung dimulai. Otto menjabat tangannya dan masuk ke barisan.

"Safe travels," Soraya says, and waves goodbye.

"Selamat jalan," kata Soraya sambil melambaikan tangan.
