The Report in the Recycling Bin

Ines works as an intern at a busy office. Her job today is simple: sort old files for recycling.

इनेस एक व्यस्त ऑफ़िस में इंटर्न है। आज उसका काम आसान है: रीसाइक्लिंग के लिए पुरानी फ़ाइलें छाँटना।

She empties one folder into a big bin. Papers, forms, and old notes fall inside. She grabs the next folder.

वह एक फ़ोल्डर को बड़े डिब्बे में पलट देती है। काग़ज़, फ़ॉर्म और पुराने नोट्स अंदर गिर जाते हैं। वह अगला फ़ोल्डर उठा लेती है।

Something catches her eye in the bin. It is a form with a manager's signature line. The line is empty.

डिब्बे में कोई चीज़ उसकी नज़र खींचती है। वह एक फ़ॉर्म है जिसमें मैनेजर के हस्ताक्षर की लाइन है। वह लाइन ख़ाली है।

Ines picks the form back up. She reads the top of the page. It says "Vendor Contract - Needs Signature."

इनेस फ़ॉर्म को फिर से उठा लेती है। वह पन्ने का ऊपरी हिस्सा पढ़ती है। उस पर लिखा है "वेंडर कॉन्ट्रैक्ट - हस्ताक्षर ज़रूरी।"

She checks the date on the form. The contract ends this Friday. Nobody signed it yet.

वह फ़ॉर्म पर तारीख़ देखती है। कॉन्ट्रैक्ट इस शुक्रवार को ख़त्म हो रहा है। अभी तक किसी ने उस पर हस्ताक्षर नहीं किए।

Ines walks to her manager's desk. "I found this in the recycling," she says. "It still needs a signature."

इनेस अपने मैनेजर की डेस्क तक जाती है। "यह मुझे रीसाइक्लिंग में मिला," वह कहती है। "इस पर अभी हस्ताक्षर होने बाक़ी हैं।"

Her manager looks at the paper. His face changes fast. "This is important," he says. "Thank you for checking."

उसका मैनेजर काग़ज़ को देखता है। उसके चेहरे का भाव तेज़ी से बदल जाता है। "यह ज़रूरी है," वह कहता है। "देखने के लिए धन्यवाद।"

He signs the form right away. He sends it to the vendor before lunch.

वह तुरंत फ़ॉर्म पर हस्ताक्षर कर देता है। वह उसे लंच से पहले वेंडर को भेज देता है।

"Good catch, Ines," he says. "That was almost a big problem."

"अच्छा पकड़ा, इनेस," वह कहता है। "यह तो लगभग एक बड़ी समस्या बन जाती।"

Ines returns to her desk. She checks every folder carefully after that.

इनेस अपनी डेस्क पर लौट आती है। उसके बाद वह हर फ़ोल्डर को ध्यान से जाँचती है।
