Noor comes home from work one evening. She walks into her kitchen and stops. Something looks different today.
नूर एक शाम काम से घर आती है। वह अपनी रसोई में जाती है और रुक जाती है। आज कुछ अलग दिख रहा है।
The plates are not in their usual place. The cups sit on a different shelf. Even the spice jars stand in a new order.
प्लेटें अपनी हमेशा वाली जगह पर नहीं हैं। कप किसी दूसरी शेल्फ़ पर रखे हैं। मसालों के डिब्बे भी एक नए क्रम में खड़े हैं।
Noor feels confused and a little worried. She sets down her bag slowly. Did someone come into her home?
नूर उलझन में पड़ जाती है और थोड़ी चिंतित हो जाती है। वह अपना बैग धीरे से नीचे रखती है। क्या कोई उसके घर में घुसा था?
She checks the front door lock. She checks the back door too. Both doors are locked, just like always.
वह सामने के दरवाज़े का ताला जाँचती है। वह पीछे का दरवाज़ा भी जाँचती है। दोनों दरवाज़े बंद हैं, हमेशा की तरह।
Noor calls her roommate, Sana, right away. "Did you move things in the kitchen?" she asks. She waits nervously for the answer.
नूर तुरंत अपनी रूममेट सना को फ़ोन करती है। "क्या तुमने रसोई में चीज़ें इधर-उधर की हैं?" वह पूछती है। वह घबराहट के साथ जवाब का इंतज़ार करती है।
"Yes, I did!" Sana says happily. "I saw a video about organizing kitchens. I wanted to surprise you with it."
"हाँ, मैंने की हैं!" सना ख़ुशी से कहती है। "मैंने रसोई सजाने का एक वीडियो देखा था। मैं तुम्हें इससे सरप्राइज़ देना चाहती थी।"
Noor lets out a small laugh of relief. She looks around the kitchen again. The new order actually makes good sense.
नूर राहत की एक छोटी हँसी हँस पड़ती है। वह रसोई को फिर से चारों ओर देखती है। नया क्रम तो सच में बहुत समझदारी भरा है।
Plates sit near the table now. Cups are close to the coffee machine. Even the spices are easier to find.
अब प्लेटें मेज़ के पास रखी हैं। कप कॉफ़ी मशीन के पास हैं। मसाले भी अब आसानी से मिल जाते हैं।
"This is actually really helpful," Noor says. She thanks Sana for the surprise. "Let's make dinner together," Sana says with a smile.
"यह तो सच में बहुत काम का है," नूर कहती है। वह सरप्राइज़ के लिए सना को धन्यवाद देती है। "चलो, साथ मिलकर खाना बनाते हैं," सना मुस्कुराकर कहती है।
