The Return with No Receipt

Elouise receives a gift blender from her aunt. She already owns the exact same blender. She decides to return it for store credit.

Elouise recibe una licuadora de regalo de su tía. Ya tiene exactamente la misma licuadora. Decide devolverla a cambio de crédito de tienda.

She checks every drawer at home. She finds no receipt anywhere. She drives to the store anyway.

Revisa cada cajón de su casa. No encuentra el recibo por ningún lado. De todos modos, maneja hasta la tienda.

"I don't have a receipt," Elouise tells the clerk. A woman named Selby looks at the box.

«No tengo el recibo», le dice Elouise a la empleada. Una mujer llamada Selby mira la caja.

"That's okay," Selby says. "I can look it up with your card." Elouise hands over her credit card.

«No hay problema», dice Selby. «Puedo buscarlo con su tarjeta». Elouise le entrega su tarjeta de crédito.

Selby types the card number into the computer. The purchase appears on the screen right away. "Found it," she says.

Selby escribe el número de la tarjeta en la computadora. La compra aparece en la pantalla de inmediato. «Aquí está», dice.

"Great," Elouise says. "What happens now?" Selby prints a new receipt and hands it back.

"I can give you store credit today," Selby says. Elouise nods and picks a new item instead.

«Puedo darle crédito de tienda hoy mismo», dice Selby. Elouise asiente y elige otro artículo en su lugar.

She chooses a set of kitchen towels. Selby scans the new item. The store credit covers the whole cost.

Escoge un juego de toallas de cocina. Selby escanea el nuevo artículo. El crédito de tienda cubre todo el costo.

Elouise thanks Selby and walks out with her towels. She leaves the blender box at the counter. Her aunt never learns about the switch.

Elouise le da las gracias a Selby y sale con sus toallas. Deja la caja de la licuadora en el mostrador. Su tía nunca se entera del cambio.
