Kestrel led hikes for her local club every month. She knew every trail well. New members often felt nervous on their first hike.
Kestrel guiava caminhadas para o clube local todo mês. Ela conhecia bem todas as trilhas. Os novos membros costumavam ficar nervosos na primeira caminhada.
One Saturday, she noticed a man near the wrong trailhead. He checked his phone and looked around. He seemed lost and unsure.
Num sábado, ela notou um homem perto da entrada errada da trilha. Ele checava o celular e olhava ao redor. Parecia perdido e inseguro.
Kestrel walked over and smiled. "Are you here for the hiking club?" she asked. "I'm Kestrel. I lead today's hike."
Kestrel se aproximou e sorriu. "Você veio para o clube de caminhada?", ela perguntou. "Sou a Kestrel. Vou guiar a caminhada de hoje."
"Yes, I'm Ilyas," he said. "I think I found the wrong spot." He pointed at a small sign near the parking lot.
"Sim, sou o Ilyas", ele disse. "Acho que encontrei o lugar errado." Ele apontou para uma placa pequena perto do estacionamento.
"That sign is old," Kestrel said. "Our group meets at the north entrance now." She waved for him to follow her.

They walked together across the parking lot. Kestrel pointed out landmarks along the way. Ilyas relaxed with each step.

At the north entrance, ten hikers waited by a bench. Kestrel introduced Ilyas to the group. Everyone said hello and shook his hand.

During the hike, Kestrel checked on Ilyas often. She showed him where the trail turned steep. He walked well for a first hike.
Durante a caminhada, Kestrel ficava de olho no Ilyas com frequência. Ela mostrou onde a trilha ficava mais íngreme. Ele se saiu bem para uma primeira caminhada.
At the top, the group stopped to rest. Ilyas took a photo of the wide view. He thanked Kestrel for her help that day.
No topo, o grupo parou para descansar. Ilyas tirou uma foto da vista ampla. Ele agradeceu a Kestrel pela ajuda naquele dia.
"Same time next month?" Kestrel asked. Ilyas nodded and tied his shoe. "I already marked it on my calendar."
"Mesmo horário mês que vem?", Kestrel perguntou. Ilyas fez que sim e amarrou o tênis. "Já marquei no meu calendário."
Months later, Ilyas led his own beginner hikes. He remembered how lost he once felt. He always checked for confused new faces.
Meses depois, Ilyas passou a guiar suas próprias caminhadas para iniciantes. Ele lembrava de como se sentira perdido antes. Sempre ficava atento a rostos novos e confusos.
