Amina lends her neighbor a ladder and helps him clean his gutter before the rain.

Amina hears a knock on her door. Her neighbor stands outside, looking worried. "Can I borrow your ladder?" he asks.
Amina ouve uma batida na porta. Seu vizinho está do lado de fora, parecendo preocupado. "Posso pegar sua escada emprestada?", ele pergunta.
"My gutter is full of leaves," he explains. "I want to clean it before the rain." Amina brings her tall ladder outside.
"Minha calha está cheia de folhas", ele explica. "Quero limpá-la antes da chuva." Amina traz sua escada alta para fora.
She carries it to his front yard. The ladder is heavy but not too big. She sets it against the wall carefully.
Ela a carrega até o quintal da frente dele. A escada é pesada, mas não muito grande. Ela a apoia contra a parede com cuidado.
"Do you need help holding it?" she offers. He nods and thanks her kindly. Amina holds the ladder steady at the bottom.
"Você precisa de ajuda para segurá-la?", ela se oferece. Ele acena que sim e agradece gentilmente. Amina segura a escada firme pela base.
Her neighbor climbs up carefully with a bucket. He pulls out wet leaves and sticks. Some leaves fall right onto the grass.
Seu vizinho sobe com cuidado, levando um balde. Ele tira folhas molhadas e gravetos. Algumas folhas caem direto na grama.
"This is a lot of leaves," he says. Amina laughs and hands him a bag. He fills the bag slowly and carefully.
"Isso é muita folha", ele diz. Amina ri e entrega a ele um saco. Ele enche o saco devagar e com cuidado.
Birds fly out from a nearby tree. The afternoon sun feels warm on their backs. Amina checks her phone for the time.
Pássaros voam para fora de uma árvore próxima. O sol da tarde esquenta as costas dos dois. Amina olha o celular para ver as horas.
After twenty minutes, the gutter is clean. Her neighbor climbs down safely. "Thank you so much for your help," he says.
Depois de vinte minutos, a calha está limpa. Seu vizinho desce com segurança. "Muito obrigado pela sua ajuda", ele diz.
Amina smiles and picks up her ladder. She carries it back to her garage. Helping a neighbor felt like a good morning.
Amina sorri e pega sua escada. Ela a leva de volta para a garagem. Ajudar um vizinho pareceu uma boa manhã.
