Wrong Appointment Time

Marcus has a doctor's appointment this afternoon. He checks his phone and sees the time: three o'clock. He leaves his house early because he wants to be on time.

मार्कस का आज दोपहर डॉक्टर के पास अपॉइंटमेंट है। वह अपना फ़ोन देखता है और समय पढ़ता है: तीन बजे। वह घर से जल्दी निकल जाता है, क्योंकि वह समय पर पहुँचना चाहता है।

He arrives at the clinic at half past two. The waiting room is quiet, so he sits down and waits. A few minutes later, a nurse calls his name.

वह ढाई बजे क्लिनिक पहुँच जाता है। वेटिंग रूम शांत है, इसलिए वह बैठकर इंतज़ार करता है। कुछ मिनट बाद एक नर्स उसका नाम पुकारती है।

"Marcus Cole?" she asks. "The doctor is ready for you now."

"मार्कस कोल?" वह पूछती है। "डॉक्टर अब आपको देखने के लिए तैयार हैं।"

Marcus looks confused. "I think my appointment is at three o'clock," he says.

मार्कस उलझन में दिखता है। "मुझे लगता है मेरा अपॉइंटमेंट तीन बजे का है," वह कहता है।

The nurse checks the computer. "Let me look at that for you," she says. She reads the screen carefully. "Actually, your appointment was booked for two-thirty."

नर्स कंप्यूटर में देखती है। "मैं आपके लिए देख लेती हूँ," वह कहती है। वह स्क्रीन ध्यान से पढ़ती है। "दरअसल आपका अपॉइंटमेंट ढाई बजे का बुक है।"

"Oh, I'm sorry," Marcus says. "I read the message wrong."

"अरे, माफ़ कीजिए," मार्कस कहता है। "मैंने संदेश ग़लत पढ़ लिया।"

"That's okay," the nurse says with a smile. "It happens more than you think."

"कोई बात नहीं," नर्स मुस्कुराकर कहती है। "ऐसा आप सोचते हैं उससे ज़्यादा बार होता है।"

Marcus feels relieved that he is not late after all. He follows the nurse down the hallway to the doctor's office.

मार्कस को राहत मिलती है कि आख़िर वह लेट नहीं हुआ है। वह नर्स के पीछे-पीछे गलियारे से होता हुआ डॉक्टर के कमरे में जाता है।

The doctor greets him and checks his blood pressure. She asks him a few questions about his health. Marcus answers each one clearly and honestly.

डॉक्टर उसका अभिवादन करती हैं और उसका ब्लड प्रेशर जाँचती हैं। वे उससे उसकी सेहत के बारे में कुछ सवाल पूछती हैं। मार्कस हर सवाल का जवाब साफ़-साफ़ और ईमानदारी से देता है।

"Everything looks fine," the doctor says. "Come back in six months for another check."

"सब कुछ ठीक लग रहा है," डॉक्टर कहती हैं। "छह महीने बाद एक और जाँच के लिए आइए।"

"Thank you," Marcus says. He stands up and shakes her hand.

"शुक्रिया," मार्कस कहता है। वह उठकर खड़ा होता है और उनसे हाथ मिलाता है।

Before he leaves, he opens his phone and sets a clear reminder. He writes the correct time in large letters: two-thirty, not three.

जाने से पहले वह अपना फ़ोन खोलता है और एक साफ़ रिमाइंडर लगाता है। वह सही समय बड़े अक्षरों में लिखता है: ढाई बजे, तीन नहीं।

"I won't make that mistake again," he says quietly.

"मैं यह ग़लती दोबारा नहीं करूँगा," वह धीरे से कहता है।

He walks out the door.

वह दरवाज़े से बाहर चला जाता है।
