Meera sits down at her desk before class. A small folded note sits on top of her books. She opens it slowly.
मीरा क्लास से पहले अपनी मेज़ पर बैठती है। उसकी किताबों के ऊपर एक छोटा-सा मुड़ा हुआ नोट रखा है। वह उसे धीरे से खोलती है।
The note says, "This notebook is not mine. Please find its real owner." A blue notebook sits next to the note.
नोट में लिखा है, "यह नोटबुक मेरी नहीं है। कृपया इसके असली मालिक को ढूँढ़ दीजिए।" नोट के पास एक नीली नोटबुक रखी है।
Meera opens the notebook and looks inside. She sees neat handwriting and math homework. A name is missing from the cover.
मीरा नोटबुक खोलकर अंदर देखती है। उसमें साफ़-सुथरी लिखावट है और गणित का होमवर्क है। कवर पर कोई नाम नहीं है।
She flips to the last page. A schedule is taped inside the back cover. It lists a name: Colin.
वह आख़िरी पन्ने पर जाती है। पीछे के कवर के अंदर एक समय-सारणी चिपकी है। उसमें एक नाम लिखा है: कॉलिन।
Meera does not know Colin well. She asks around during morning break. A few classmates point toward the science room.
मीरा कॉलिन को ज़्यादा नहीं जानती। सुबह की छुट्टी में वह आसपास पूछती है। कुछ सहपाठी विज्ञान की कक्षा की ओर इशारा करते हैं।
She finds Colin at his desk. "Is this your notebook?" she asks. She holds it up for him to see.
वह कॉलिन को उसकी मेज़ पर पा लेती है। "क्या यह तुम्हारी नोटबुक है?" वह पूछती है। वह उसे ऊपर उठाकर दिखाती है।
Colin looks surprised. "I lost that yesterday," he says. "I looked everywhere for it."
कॉलिन हैरान दिखता है। "यह कल खो गई थी," वह कहता है। "मैंने हर जगह ढूँढ़ा था।"
"Someone left it with a note," Meera says. "I don't know that person."
"किसी ने इसे एक नोट के साथ छोड़ा था," मीरा कहती है। "मैं उस इंसान को नहीं जानती।"
Colin takes the notebook carefully. "Thank you very much," he says. "This has all my notes for the test."
कॉलिन नोटबुक को सँभालकर ले लेता है। "बहुत-बहुत शुक्रिया," वह कहता है। "इसमें टेस्ट के मेरे सारे नोट्स हैं।"
Meera smiles and walks to her next class. She still wonders about the mystery note.
