Kaia works at the library on Saturdays. She sorts returned books onto a cart. One book comes back again and again. It is an old book about gardens.
कैया शनिवार को लाइब्रेरी में काम करती है। वह लौटाई गई किताबों को ट्रॉली पर छाँटकर रखती है। एक किताब बार-बार वापस आती है। वह बगीचों के बारे में एक पुरानी किताब है।
Every time, the same page has a flower. The flower is small, dry, and flat. It always sits on page forty-two.
हर बार उसी पन्ने पर एक फूल होता है। फूल छोटा, सूखा और चपटा है। वह हमेशा बयालीसवें पन्ने पर रखा रहता है।
Kaia finds this very strange. She checks the name on the card. The name is Otilia, a kind reader.
कैया को यह बहुत अजीब लगता है। वह कार्ड पर लिखा नाम देखती है। नाम है ओटिलिया, एक भली पाठिका।
Kaia wants to solve this small puzzle. She waits by the counter on Saturday. A woman with gray hair returns the book.
कैया इस छोटी-सी पहेली को सुलझाना चाहती है। शनिवार को वह काउंटर के पास इंतज़ार करती है। भूरे बालों वाली एक औरत किताब लौटाने आती है।
"Are you Otilia?" Kaia asks kindly.
"क्या आप ओटिलिया हैं?" कैया प्यार से पूछती है।
"Yes, that is me," the woman says.
"हाँ, मैं ही हूँ," औरत कहती है।
"I found a flower in your book," Kaia says. "It is always on the same page."
"मुझे आपकी किताब में एक फूल मिला," कैया कहती है। "वह हमेशा उसी पन्ने पर रहता है।"
Otilia smiles a warm, quiet smile. "That page has my favorite lines," she says. "I press a flower from my garden. Then I mark that page every time."
ओटिलिया एक गर्मजोशी भरी, शांत मुस्कान मुस्कुराती है। "उस पन्ने पर मेरी पसंदीदा पंक्तियाँ हैं," वह कहती है। "मैं अपने बगीचे का एक फूल दबाकर रखती हूँ। इस तरह हर बार उस पन्ने पर निशान लगा देती हूँ।"
"That is a lovely habit," Kaia says.

"My garden has many small flowers," Otilia says. "Would you like to see it sometime?"

Kaia nods with a big smile. "I would love that very much."

The next Saturday, Kaia visits the garden. Otilia gives her a small yellow flower. Kaia presses it inside her own book. She marks her favorite page, just like Otilia.
अगले शनिवार कैया बगीचा देखने जाती है। ओटिलिया उसे एक छोटा पीला फूल देती है। कैया उसे अपनी किताब के अंदर दबा देती है। वह भी ओटिलिया की तरह अपने पसंदीदा पन्ने पर निशान लगा देती है।
Now two books in town have flowers.
अब शहर में दो किताबों में फूल हैं।
