Tamsin arrived at the dock ten minutes before the ferry. A worker stood at the ramp with a clipboard.
टैम्सिन फ़ेरी आने से दस मिनट पहले घाट पर पहुँची। एक कर्मचारी क्लिपबोर्ड लिए रैंप पर खड़ा था।
"Sorry, this ferry is full," he said. "The next one leaves in two hours," he added.
"माफ़ कीजिए, यह फ़ेरी भर चुकी है," उसने कहा। "अगली फ़ेरी दो घंटे बाद जाएगी," उसने जोड़ा।
Tamsin looked out at the small island across the water. Two hours felt like a long time to wait.
टैम्सिन ने पानी के पार छोटे-से द्वीप की ओर देखा। दो घंटे इंतज़ार करना बहुत लंबा लग रहा था।
She walked along the dock and looked at the boats. A small motorboat sat near the end of the dock. A sign on it read "Water Taxi, Ask Inside."
वह घाट पर चलते हुए नावों को देखने लगी। घाट के किनारे के पास एक छोटी मोटरबोट खड़ी थी। उस पर लगे बोर्ड पर लिखा था, "वॉटर टैक्सी, अंदर पूछें।"
Tamsin walked into the little office next to the sign. "Can you take me to the island?" she asked.
टैम्सिन बोर्ड के बगल वाले छोटे-से दफ़्तर में गई। "क्या आप मुझे द्वीप तक ले जा सकते हैं?" उसने पूछा।
"Sure, it takes fifteen minutes," the driver said.

Tamsin paid for a ticket and stepped onto the boat. The small boat sped across the water fast.
टैम्सिन ने टिकट के पैसे दिए और नाव पर चढ़ गई। छोटी नाव पानी पर तेज़ी से दौड़ पड़ी।
Waves splashed up over the sides now and then. Tamsin held her bag close and laughed at the spray.
कभी-कभी लहरें छिटककर किनारों के ऊपर आ जाती थीं। टैम्सिन ने अपना बैग पास खींच लिया और छींटों पर हँस पड़ी।
The boat reached the island well before the ferry. She stepped onto the dock and looked at the sea. The ferry was still just a dot near the mainland.
नाव फ़ेरी से काफ़ी पहले द्वीप पर पहुँच गई। वह घाट पर उतरी और समुद्र की ओर देखा। फ़ेरी अब भी मुख्य भूमि के पास बस एक बिंदु जैसी दिख रही थी।
