Derek's car refuses to start one morning, so he catches the bus and still makes it to work on time.

Derek wakes up early and gets ready for work. He grabs his coffee and walks out to his car. He turns the key, but nothing happens.
डेरेक सुबह जल्दी उठता है और काम के लिए तैयार होता है। वह अपनी कॉफ़ी उठाता है और अपनी कार तक जाता है। वह चाबी घुमाता है, लेकिन कुछ नहीं होता।
He tries again. The engine makes a strange clicking sound, but it does not start. Derek looks at his watch. He has thirty minutes before his meeting.
वह फिर कोशिश करता है। इंजन से खट-खट की अजीब आवाज़ आती है, लेकिन वह चालू नहीं होता। डेरेक अपनी घड़ी देखता है। मीटिंग में अब तीस मिनट बचे हैं।
"Not today," he says to himself. He gets out of the car and closes the door.

Derek checks the bus schedule on his phone. A bus stops near his house every fifteen minutes. He grabs his bag and walks quickly to the bus stop.
डेरेक अपने फ़ोन पर बस का समय देखता है। उसके घर के पास हर पंद्रह मिनट में एक बस रुकती है। वह अपना बैग उठाता है और तेज़ी से बस स्टॉप की ओर चल पड़ता है।
At the stop, a few other people wait too. A woman with a big umbrella smiles at him. "Car trouble?" she asks.
स्टॉप पर कुछ और लोग भी इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं। बड़ी छतरी वाली एक महिला उसे देखकर मुस्कुराती है। "गाड़ी में कुछ दिक़्क़त है?" वह पूछती है।
"Yes," Derek says. "It just will not start."
"हाँ," डेरेक कहता है। "वह बस चालू ही नहीं हो रही।"
"That happened to me last winter," she says. "It's always at the worst time."
"पिछली सर्दियों में मेरे साथ भी ऐसा हुआ था," वह कहती है। "यह हमेशा सबसे बुरे समय पर ही होता है।"
The bus arrives, and Derek gets on. He finds a seat by the window. He watches the city go by. He checks the time again. He still has twenty minutes.
बस आ जाती है और डेरेक उसमें चढ़ जाता है। उसे खिड़की के पास एक सीट मिल जाती है। वह शहर को गुज़रते हुए देखता है। वह फिर समय देखता है। उसके पास अब भी बीस मिनट हैं।
The bus stops two blocks from his office. Derek steps off and walks fast down the street. He reaches the building five minutes early.
बस उसके दफ़्तर से दो ब्लॉक पहले रुकती है। डेरेक उतरता है और सड़क पर तेज़ी से चलता है। वह इमारत में पाँच मिनट पहले पहुँच जाता है।
His coworker looks up. "You're here early today," she says.

"Not exactly," Derek says with a small smile. "My car did not want to start today."
"ठीक से कहें तो नहीं," डेरेक हल्की मुस्कान के साथ कहता है। "आज मेरी कार चालू नहीं होना चाहती थी।"
He sits down at his desk and turns on his computer. The meeting is about to begin. He arrived right on time.
