The Rearranged Photos

Rina keeps family photos on a shelf in her hallway. She has six photos in silver frames.

Rina tiene fotos familiares en un estante de su pasillo. Tiene seis fotos en marcos plateados.

She sees them every day before work. She knows their order well.

Las ve todos los días antes de ir al trabajo. Conoce bien su orden.

One Monday, she stops and looks twice. The photos are in a different order.

Un lunes, se detiene y mira dos veces. Las fotos están en un orden diferente.

The wedding photo is now on the left. It is usually on the right.

La foto de la boda ahora está a la izquierda. Normalmente está a la derecha.

Rina is surprised. She puts the photos back the way she likes them.

On Wednesday, the same thing happens again. Two photos change places once more.

She checks the front door. It is locked, just like always. Nothing else in the house looks different.

That evening, her nephew Arlo comes to visit. He is eight years old and full of energy.

Esa tarde, su sobrino Arlo viene a visitarla. Tiene ocho años y está lleno de energía.

Rina watches him walk past the shelf. He stops and touches one of the frames.

Rina lo observa pasar junto al estante. Él se detiene y toca uno de los marcos.

"I like moving them around," Arlo says. "I like this picture here."

«Me gusta moverlas de lugar», dice Arlo. «Me gusta esta foto aquí».

Rina laughs and sits down next to him. "Next time, tell me first," she says. "I almost thought something strange happened here!"
