The Mail for a Name She Didn't Know

Solange moves into a small apartment on Birchwood Street. It is her first week there. Boxes still sit in every room.
Solange se muda a un apartamento pequeño en la calle Birchwood. Es su primera semana ahí. Todavía hay cajas en cada cuarto.
On Monday, a letter arrives at her door. The name on it is Priscilla Okafor. Solange does not know that name.
El lunes llega una carta a su puerta. El nombre en ella es Priscilla Okafor. Solange no conoce ese nombre.
"Maybe it's for someone else in the building," she says to herself. She leaves it on the hallway table by the mailboxes.
«Tal vez es para otra persona del edificio», se dice a sí misma. La deja en la mesa del pasillo junto a los buzones.
On Tuesday, two more letters arrive for the same name. By Friday, five letters wait in a small pile. Solange decides to ask her neighbors about it.
El martes llegan dos cartas más para el mismo nombre. Para el viernes, ya hay cinco cartas en una pequeña pila. Solange decide preguntarles a sus vecinos.
She knocks on the door across the hall. An older woman named Perla opens it.
Toca la puerta del otro lado del pasillo. Una mujer mayor llamada Perla le abre.
"Hi, I'm new here," Solange says. "Do you know anyone named Priscilla Okafor? I keep getting mail for that name."
«Hola, soy nueva aquí», dice Solange. «¿Conoce a alguien llamado Priscilla Okafor? Me sigue llegando correo con ese nombre».
Perla thinks for a moment. "Oh, that's Priscilla. She lived in your apartment before you. She moved out about two months ago."
Perla piensa un momento. «Ah, esa es Priscilla. Vivía en su apartamento antes que usted. Se mudó hace unos dos meses».
"Do you know where she moved to?" Solange asks.
«¿Sabe adónde se mudó?», pregunta Solange.
"Not exactly, but the manager can check," Perla says. "His office is on the first floor."
«No exactamente, pero el administrador puede revisarlo», dice Perla. «Su oficina está en el primer piso».
Solange thanks Perla. She walks to the manager's office with the small pile of letters. The manager checks his files and finds a forwarding address.
Solange le da las gracias a Perla. Camina hasta la oficina del administrador con la pequeña pila de cartas. El administrador revisa sus archivos y encuentra una dirección de reenvío.
"I'll add a note to the mailbox," he says. "The mail carrier can update the route."

Solange writes "Please forward" on each letter. She drops them in the outgoing mail slot. The next week, no more letters for Priscilla arrive.
Solange escribe «Por favor, reenviar» en cada carta. Las pone en la ranura de correo saliente. La semana siguiente, no llega ninguna carta más para Priscilla.
Solange smiles at her own mailbox, now labeled with her correct name.
Solange sonríe al ver su propio buzón, ahora con su nombre correcto.
