The Chalk Drawing That Keeps Coming Back

Fenn drew a big chalk sun on the sidewalk. It took him a whole afternoon to finish. That night, rain washed every line away.

Fenn dibujó un gran sol de tiza en la acera. Le tomó toda una tarde terminarlo. Esa noche, la lluvia borró cada línea.

The next morning, Fenn looked out his window. A chalk sun sat right where his sun stood. But this sun had extra rays and colors.

A la mañana siguiente, Fenn miró por su ventana. Un sol de tiza estaba justo donde había estado el suyo. Pero este sol tenía rayos y colores extra.

Fenn walked outside and stared at it. "Did I draw this?" he asked himself. He did not remember adding purple rays.

That night, rain came again and washed it clean. The next morning, a new drawing appeared. This time, a chalk cat sat by the sun.

Fenn decided to solve this small mystery. He watched from his porch the next evening.

Just before sunset, a young girl crossed the street. She carried a small box of chalk. She knelt down and started to draw.

Fenn walked over slowly and said hello. "I am Fenn," he said. "I draw here too."

"I know," the girl said with a grin. "I am Idun. I live right there." She pointed at the house across the street.

"I love your drawings," Idun said. "I add more."

"You are really good," Fenn said, smiling. "Would you like to draw together sometime?"

Idun nodded fast and picked up more chalk. Together, they drew a whole chalk garden.

Idun asintió rápido y tomó más tiza. Juntos, dibujaron todo un jardín de tiza.

The next rain washed it all away. But two artists were ready the next morning.
